We’re looking for an Assistive Technology Manager to lead our specialist Assistive Technology and Rehabilitation Engineering service.

This is a highly practical and collaborative role working directly with children and young people, therapists, teachers, education colleagues and care teams to develop innovative technology solutions that support communication, learning, participation, independence and quality of life.

You'll play a key role in ensuring that assistive technology is effectively embedded across education, therapy and care, helping children and young people access the tools, environments and opportunities they need to thrive.

LOCATION: North Chailey, BN8 4EF

SALARY: £42,000 - £49,000

HOURS: 37 hrs per week

JOB TYPE:  Full time, Permanent

What You’ll Do 

As Assistive Technology Manager, you will lead the delivery and ongoing development of specialist assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering services across the organisation. Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, you will help identify, assess, implement and maintain technology solutions that support communication, learning, physical access, independence and engagement.

You will provide both operational management and specialist expertise, ensuring assistive technology services continue to evolve and meet the changing needs of the children and young people we support.

You will also:

  • Lead and support a small specialist team delivering assistive technology and rehabilitation engineering services
  • Oversee the assessment, implementation, maintenance, and review of specialist assistive technology equipment and systems
  • Provide expertise across AAC, eye-gaze technology, switch access, environmental controls and other specialist access solutions
  • Work collaboratively with therapists, educators, care colleagues and families to develop personalised technology solutions
  • Lead service development initiatives, including technology trials, innovation projects and evaluation of emerging technologies
  • Ensure services meet appropriate safeguarding, safety, accessibility and regulatory requirements

About you

  • We’re looking for a collaborative, innovative and solutions-focused professional with experience in assistive technology, AAC, rehabilitation engineering, specialist educational technology or related services. You will bring:
  • Experience supporting children, young people or adults with complex disabilities through assistive technology and specialist access solutions
  • Knowledge of AAC, communication technology, eye-gaze systems, switch access, environmental controls or related technologies
  • Experience working within education, SEND, therapy, healthcare, social care or similar specialist environments
  • Experience leading, managing or coordinating specialist services or teams
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and person-centred practice
