Job Purpose:

The Assistant Housekeeper supports the Estate Housekeeper in maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, presentation, and guest care across the historic Weston Park estate.

This role plays a vital hands-on part in the day-to-day delivery of housekeeping across the House, guest bedrooms, event spaces, and selected estate buildings. You will help ensure that heritage interiors are cared for correctly, guests receive a warm and discreet service, and the estate is consistently presented to the highest standard for private stays, weddings, corporate events, and public visits.

Accountabilities

Housekeeping & Presentation

• Support the delivery of the highest standards of cleanliness across all areas of the House and estate buildings.

Clean and prepare guest bedrooms, bathrooms, and suites to a luxury-standard presentation.

Clean and prepare holiday properties for guest arrival to a luxury-standard presentation.

• Ensure public rooms, corridors, staircases, and event spaces are clean, well-presented, and ready for use.

• Handle antique furniture, artworks, fabrics, and historic interiors with care, following conservation guidance.

• Assist with laundry duties and linen management, as well as some onsite washing and steaming.

Replenish guest amenities, linens, and housekeeping supplies.

Manage linen stock and liaise where necessary with linen supplier.

Guest Experience

Deliver a warm, discreet, and professional service when interacting with guests.

• Assist with room and space preparation for VIP guests, weddings, corporate events, and private stays.

Support turndown services and respond to guest requests promptly and professionally.

Ensure guest areas are welcoming, fully stocked, and presented ahead of schedule.

Operational Support

• Assist the Estate Housekeeper with daily housekeeping routines and schedules.

Report maintenance or repair issues promptly to the Maintenance Team.

Follow cleaning schedules, checklists, and conservation procedures accurately.

Assist with stock control of cleaning products, linens, and equipment.

Support the wider housekeeping team during busy periods, events, and changeovers.

Adhere to all health & safety, COSHH, and safeguarding procedures.

Teamwork & Development

• Work closely with the Estate Housekeeper and wider hospitality teams.

• Provide day-to-day support and guidance to colleagues, seasonal staff, and new starters.

• Act as a positive role model, helping to maintain a respectful, professional working environment.

• Be willing to step up and take responsibility in the absence of the Estate Housekeeper when required.

Undertake any reasonable duties as requested by your Line Manager.

Weston Park is a complex historic estate with a small team. We deliver a variety of activities across the business, and the Security & Maintenance team are at the core of looking after our assets and people. We’re therefore looking for someone who works well within a team but also individually, using initiative and with a can-do attitude.

The role is varied and requires a combination of flexibility but also the ability to work with structure, logic and accuracy and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of groups including staff, volunteers, visitors and stakeholders.
