Hours:

  • This is a full-time permanent position, working 37 hours per week

Pay: 

  • £34,361-£38,542 per annum

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

  • Current SEQ Level 2 Teaching Swimming qualification
  • Up to date first aid qualification
  • Extensive knowledge of the Learn to Swim and School Swimming programmes
  • Working knowledge of the swimming development continuum, and its application within a local authority, Club and Competition environment
  • Working with young people, adults and volunteers in an aquatics environment
  • Promotion and marketing of swimming / aquatics programmes
  • Managing programmes, budgets and staffing resources
  • Demonstratable experience of working within a management role

Beneficial Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

  • Bubbles and Splash Masterclass qualification,or willingness to work towards
  • SEQ Level 3 Swim Coordinator, or willingness to work towards
  • Assistant or Swim Coach qualification
  • Educated to degree level, or demonstratable experience in a management role
  • Monitoring and maximising income opportunities for swimming programmes
  • Working with point of sale and/or business/aquatic intelligence systems
  • Ability to communicate in Welsh

Reporting into the Head of Business Development, you will provide high-quality aquatic opportunities for customers with particular attention to our Learn to Swim and School Swimming programmes.

Working with both development and operational colleagues, you will assist in the design, delivery and evaluation of a safe and operationally efficient aquatics programme across all Newport Live pools.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the aquatics team
  • Manage the aquatics budget, human resource and be accountable for commericial performance of the aquatics programmes
  • Regularly review and report on the participation and financial performance of the programmes and take necessary action where and when required
  • Lead on the identification and recruitment of swimming teachers
  • Work collaboratively to ensure lessons remain operational

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a successful Disclosing and Barring Service (DBS) check.

Flexibility to work unsociable hours including evenings and weekends is required.

Due to the need to travel between sites or occasionally to other loations, a full UK driving licence and the willingness to add business class insurance is beneficial to your application.
