We are looking to recruit a passionate and energetic Assistant Swimming Coach who will be responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality coaching sessions within the Newport Live Integrated Swimming Programme in partnership with the City of Newport Swimming and Water Polo Club. The Assistant Swimming Coach will support the Head Coach in the delivery of programmed coaching sessions across a variety of competitive swimming squads. The successful candidate will be an advocate for swimming with a passion to inspire new and existing athletes to reach their potential. You must have a proven track record of coaching within the aquatic sector, show evidence of working on your own initiative and experience dealing with customers and their needs providing sound knowledge and advice encouraging adherence and member retention.
Hours: Casual basis - £13.66 per hour

You must have a proven track record of coaching within the aquatic sector, show evidence of working on your own initiative and experience dealing with customers and their needs providing sound knowledge and advice encouraging adherence and member retention.
Required:
- Qualified to a minimum of a UKCC Level 1 and/or working towards a Level 2 qualification Swim Coach or equivalent

Proven knowledge and experience of coaching competitive swimming at Age Group club and Regional level, to include knowledge of performance pathways and talent identification

Knowledge and understanding of Child Protection policies and procedures

Ability to coach swimmers in a development & performance environment, to improve individual technical skills and develop individual training programmes

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Ability to set priorities, plan the process of work and manage competing demands on time

Ability to motivate athletes
-
Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team

Ability to work with young people from varying backgrounds and with specific needs

Excellent Time Management

A minimum of one years' coaching experience of working within competitive swimming at Club and Regional level

Experience in the assistance of the development and implementation of plans, training programmes and the assessment of swimmer performance

Working with volunteer coaches and committee members within a club environment

Self-motivated and driven to succeed

Patience and understanding whilst working with swimmers and volunteers

Commitment to continuous professional development

The ability to work flexible working patterns including split days

Current Driving Licence
Beneficial:

Swimming is a vital life skill, and we are looking for Level 2 qualified teachers to join us on a part time basis (committing to delivery of at least one class per week) to help us ensure that lessons are available for learners of all ages and abilities across our community.
Hours: We have various shifts available (shown below) so can adapt part time contracts around your availability. There will also be opportunities to pick up additional shifts as absence cover when available.
Pay: Starting at £15.23 per hour

Essential for your application:
- ASA/STA Level 2 Swim Teacher qualification (or those currently on course to complete)
- Relevant coaching experience
- Practical knowledge of the Learn to Swim Wales programme
- Knowledge and understanding of child protection policies in a swimming pool environment
- Experience in organising, planning and delivering structured swimming sessions, whilst adapting to varying needs, abilities, and ages

- STA/RLSS Lifesaving Teacher qualification
- Relevant adult and child teaching qualification

- Ability to communicate in Welsh (or any other languages in addition to English)
Our swimming teachers are pivotal members of the team, delivering and maintaining effective and high-quality swimming lessons for children, young people, and adults, as part of our Integrated Swimming Programme, which is run at both the Regional Pool & Tennis Centre (located in Newport International Sports Village) and the Active Living Centre (located in Newport High School).
Main duties include:
- Teaching swim lessons following the new Learn to Swim Wales teaching framework, as part of the City's Integrated Swimming Programme
- Prepare, implement, and evaluate schemes of work in order to ensure continual development of all swim learners
- Maintain accurate records of all participants, including attendance, attainment, and progress
- Promote swimming and help provide links to relevant aquatic clubs to children and parents who attend the weekly Learn to Swim programme
- Safe preparation of facilities and equipment as required by the Learn to Swim programme, and for checking set-up of facilities and equipment undertaken by Recreation Assistants
- Ensuring safe compliance with all statutory legal requirements, and in particular the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and Child Protection Act
- Willingness to assist in organising and delivering swimming galas and events
- Undertake training as/when required as part of the Swimming Development continual development programme
- Attend swim teachers' forums/meetings as and when requested

Our Theatre Technicians are vital with their provision of technical support for performances, shows, bookings, and events at The Riverfront, as well as providing technical assistance across our other sites where required. We are looking for additional team members to join us on a casual basis, with the flexibility to commit to shifts as and when available.
Rate of Pay: Real Living Wage (currently £12.60 per hour)
Hours: Flexible - available shifts will be published in advance in line with The Riverfront’s programme of events, for you to decline or commit to; occasionally opportunities will become available at short notice
Due to the nature of our programming schedules, shifts will include working evenings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Essential to your application:
- Experience of working in a technical / theatre environment OR have a degree (level 6) in a technical field
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the technical procedures required to operationally run a theatre
- Skilled in the use of basic hand tools and power tools, such as electrical screwdrivers, rigger tools, drills, impact drivers, and electrical test meters
- Ability to operate and programme a wide range of lighting desks including ETC Eos Family desks and software OR Digital Sound Desk and equipment, including Yamaha, Allen & Heath or d&b R1

At the Riverfront Theatre and Arts Centre (‘The Riverfront’), we aim to bring as much of the community as possible into contact with creativity and the arts, through professional performances, workshops, and film screenings.
Based in the City Centre, we are Newport’s only professional presenting theatre and arts centre, with two theatre spaces, a cinema, a visual arts gallery space, basement, dance studio, recording studio, workshop rooms, conference room, and a licenced café. Our popular line ups include our annual festive Pantomime, and the fantastic Big Splash summer festival.
Main responsibilities of our Theatre Technicians include:

Working as part of the technical team on electrical, sound and staging fit-ups get-ins, strikes, shows and get-outs in the main theatre, studio, and other designated performance spaces

Ensuring the safe use and maintenance of stage and technical equipment; ensure that all health and safety procedures and safe working practices are followed and safely operating the counterweight flying system

Set up spaces for conferences, meetings, events, and exhibitions at the Riverfront.

Act as a point of liaison between the Newport Live technical team and visiting companies, promoting an overall high standard of customer care and service to the users of the Riverfront
Successful applicants will be:

- Good at building effective relationships across all levels

With our busy Pantomime season fast approaching, we are especially looking for those who can commit to shifts throughout rehearsals and performances for this year's exciting production of Rapunzel, running from November 2025 to early January 2026.
