Salary Banding: c. £26,000 - £28,000 per annum

Location : Homebased - With travel to training venues
Travel Requirements : As required
Employment Type : Permanent
Working Hours : This is a full-time role, covering 35hrs per week

The Role:

Yorkshire Rugby Academy are looking for a highly motivated and skilled individual to lead our Performance Analysis, ensuring the highest level of tactical and technical analysis to support the coaching staff and players.

Responsibilities:

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the design, delivery, and management of all performance analysis services across Yorkshire Rugby Academy, ensuring alignment with the Academy’s technical, tactical, and player development strategies.
  • Coordinate the filming, coding, and analysis of all Academy fixtures and training sessions (including Junior Academy Festivals and ACE partner games), delivering insightful individual and team reviews.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Academy, Transition Coaches, and specialist staff to integrate analysis outputs into individual player development plans and Academy-wide strategies.
  • Lead and support a high-performance learning environment, fostering the development of analysis literacy among players and coaches, and mentoring staff where appropriate.
  • Manage the Academy’s performance analysis systems and online platforms, ensuring data security, accessibility, and optimal organisation of player data, video footage, and analysis resources.
  • Watch and analyse upcoming opposition games (live or recorded), contributing to weekly opposition reports and assisting in the preparation of tactical previews for players and staff.
  • Prepare and deliver engaging, player-centred presentations that utilise video and analysis software to enhance visual learning and improve player understanding of tactical concepts.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration with coaching and support staff, ensuring analysis insights are timely, relevant, and contribute directly to decision-making processes.
  • Actively collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and delivery of the current strategic, business and operational plans.

  • Undertake other duties as may be required from time to time as are consistent with the responsibilities of the post and the needs of the organisation.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Essential: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Science, Performance Analysis, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a performance analysis role within sport, preferably rugby.
  • Proficiency in performance analysis software such as Hudl, Sportscode, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of rugby union, including tactics, game models, and player development.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with players, coaches, and support staff.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Full UK driving license

Desirable: 

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working within an academy environment.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques.
