About the role:
You will make an effective contribution to the provision of appropriate information, advice, support, guidance and access to services and social opportunities for Adult & Young carers in Aberdeenshire, according to their changing needs, working both on an individual and group work basis. You will also support the carer in preparing an Adult Carers Support plan in accordance with relevant carers legislation.
Responsibilities of our Carer Advisor will include:
- Work alongside carers referred to service and establish the impact of their caring role & complete young carers statement/ adult carers support plan as appropriate
- Raising awareness of the role undertaken by people as carers, their statutory rights & their needs, amongst those professionals who plan and manage services.
- Collating and disseminating information on services available locally, and providing an information resource giving details of such services which can be safely accessed by carers, and understood by them.
- Work within a designated Cluster group/ locality giving talks to raise awareness of carers’ issues and to provide information about services available to carers.
- Advising, guiding and supporting both young and adult carers both on a one to one and group basis, taking on an advocacy role when required.
- Facilitating group activities, social and training/educational events as determined by the needs and wishes of the carers.
- Investigating the nature and extent of on-going unmet needs of carers, and determining ways of meeting these needs in accordance with available resources.
- Regularly reviewing needs of carers in the light of changing and evolving circumstances, ensuring that support and information given is relevant and appropriate.
- Exploring and developing effective communication and informal networks amongst a wide range of individuals, including young and adult carers, volunteers, groups and agencies.

Located in Birmingham, Bristol Road is a specialist residential centre that provides continuing rehabilitation and specialist care and support for up to eight people with an acquired brain injury.

Are you an experienced dog trainer and handler? We are looking for someone who can assess, design and implement behavioural rehabilitation plans for our dogs.
As Behaviour Officer, you'll take the lead, figuratively and literally, when it comes to the assessments of our dogs and their training programmes, playing a key role in their journey towards rehoming.
What does this role do?
As a Behaviour Officer you’ll:
- assess the behaviour of dogs, before they enter the centre and during their stay, to identify potential behaviour needs, as per Dogs Trust Standard Operating Procedures,
- design and implement Behaviour Modification Programmes and training plans to enhance each dog’s chances of rehoming, in support of the centre’s priorities based on individual dog welfare and requirements,
- oversee and support the implementation of training and behaviour plans by colleagues, working with other departments to modify and seek guidance,
- monitor the progress of individual training and rehabilitation programmes and maintain detailed records of the progress of each dog,
- provide professional training and support to colleagues.

To be successful in this role, you'll have a in-depth knowledge of dog behaviour and welfare, including experience of writing training and behaviour programs. You'll also have achieved ATBC competence at
Animal Trainer standardand have achieved specific competences from theBehaviour Technician standardor equivalent. This competence should be combined with significant practical experience handling challenging dogs. You'll also have excellent communication skills with the ability to handle delicate situations sensitively and professionally.What does this team do?

Job Type: This is a pivotal and unique role that supports the deliver of the Dad Matters programme in Kirklees, working in partnership with health partners in community outreach locations including clinical environments. The Dad Matters Co-ordinator will deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at male parents in the first 1001 days. They will support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to services.

They also get involved in ad hoc issues such as requests to change the status of paths and discussions with landowners about access issues on their land. An Area Secretary covers a number of Parishes and is supported by a group of Path Reps and the Society’s ROWG Team. This Team compromises all the other Area Secretaries, Path Maintenance Volunteer Leaders and representatives of various associated activities such as walking, cycling and horse riding.
