Home-Start is a voluntary organisation committed to promoting the welfare of families through recruiting and training volunteers to provide family support. Our vision is that families will be safe, healthy and resilient and that children will have the best start in life.

We are currently recruiting for:

Dad Matters Co-ordinator (Fixed Term Contract of Employment to December 2027).

Location: Base is Huddersfield Town Centre Office (parking available). Outreach work across Kirklees required.

Salary: NJC Scale SCP 14-21 (£29,540 - £33,143 pro rata). Starting salary SCP 14, increasing to SCP 15 after a successful probationary period.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Job Type: This is a pivotal and unique role that supports the deliver of the Dad Matters programme in Kirklees, working in partnership with health partners in community outreach locations including clinical environments. The Dad Matters Co-ordinator will deliver a range of universal and targeted interventions aimed at male parents in the first 1001 days. They will support dads and other male carers with attachment and bonding, mental health and access to services.

We would particularly welcome applications from men who have parenting experience

Essential requirements include:

  • Good interpersonal, motivational and communication skills
  • Build on the Home-Start foundation of peer support by engaging and supporting dads in one-to-one and group situations
  • Ensure that parent – infant relationships are a thread through every relationship and conversation with dads
  • Raise awareness of the risks of poor mental health for fathers and their families during the perinatal period and awareness of the impact on fathers of caring for a partner affected by perinatal mental health issues
  • Develop close links with health partners and voluntary agencies in Kirklees
  • Understand confidentiality and professionalism in the workplace
