Purpose and Objectives:
To work closely with the District Treasurer and District Staff to support the finance function of the London District of the Methodist Church. This includes supporting and advising on appropriate financial controls, budgeting and reporting. To support the District Treasurer and the District Finance Resource Group, in advising circuits on financial policies and procedures to enable them to deliver on their mission.
Time commitment:
A flexible approach is required in order to provide support and guidance for the District, circuits and churches.
Main Responsibilities:

Deputise for the District Treasurer, when required, in reporting to the London District Council and District Synod of the Methodist Church on the financial health of the London District;

Draft management accounting reports in liaison with the District Finance and Admin Officer.

Be an active member of the District Finance Resource Group (FRG), facilitating its work in providing guidance to Circuits and Churches in the London District of the Methodist Church, and to take minutes of its meetings and maintain an Actions Log;

Working with the District Treasurer, implement & monitor sound financial procedures, systems & controls (in liaison with the District Finance & Admin Officer);

Support the completion of the District’s Annual Accounts by working with the District Finance & Admin Officer, District Treasurer and the District’s Auditor (when and where appropriate), and ensure the London District’s annual accounts are prepared in compliance with the current appropriate Methodist Standard Form of accounts and Charities SORP, working to implement any changes as advised by the auditors.

Work with the District Finance & Admin Officer to ensure all District grants are paid and monitored in accordance with their respective grant panel / committee decisions, including attendance at DAF (District Advance Fund) Panel to report on available funds;

To act as the District’s CDiM (Continuing Development in Ministry) Secretary by receiving applications from Ministers across the District for grants towards study or training and seek approval for these in line with District processes; actively promoting the grant amongst the District; monitoring and reporting on funds available as required; receive reports from those who have been provided with grants; to report on the activities of the work of CDiM at the Authorised Ministries Commission meetings throughout the year (as advised) and to the Synod via the District Annual Report.

The Role:
Join our dedicated team as a Lifeguard on a temporary basis for a period of 6-months at Xcite Linlithgow where safety, fun, and customer service are our top priorities. We are seeking a dedicated and vigilant Lifeguard to ensure the safety and well-being of our members and visitors. If you have a passion for helping others and enjoy working in a dynamic environment, this could be the perfect job for you! Applicants should ideally hold a current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) but full training could be provided to candidates who demonstrate the right attributes, have a responsible diligent nature with a willingness to learn.
Key Responsibilities:
- Keep a watchful eye on swimmers by patrolling the poolside or supervising from a lifeguard chair
- Encourage safe behaviour and step in if something looks unsafe
- Act quickly and calmly in emergencies, carrying out rescues when needed
- Provide first aid and support to customers if required
- Help keep the pool and surrounding areas clean, safe, and welcoming
- Set up and pack away pool equipment such as lane ropes and diving blocks
- Carry out regular water tests, including pH and chlorine checks
- Offer a friendly, helpful service to all customers and deal with any concerns politely
- Take bookings and process cash and card payments accurately
- Promote activities, products, and services to visitors
- Help with basic admin tasks to support programmes and daily operations
- Attend regular training sessions to keep skills and NPLQ up to date
- Support other areas, including reception, when required
- A current NPLQ qualification(or willingness to achieve and maintain it)
- A positive, approachable attitude and good communication skills
- The ability to stay calm under pressure
- Reliability, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility

Goddards Volunteer Gardener
We are looking for a green fingered volunteer to work alongside the gardener to maintain the Landmark Trust’s Goddards’ garden at Abinger Common which was designed in 1900 by Gertrude Jekyll in association with Edwin Lutyens.
1 or 2 mornings a week (Monday and/or Friday)
To assist with:
• General maintenance of flower beds
• Dividing plants and taking cuttings
• Watering, weeding, pruning and planting as needed
• Clearing leaves and edging lawns and paths
