As a Support Worker in our Day Opportunities team, you will help individuals take part in a wide range of meaningful and fun activities—supporting their personal development, creativity and independence.

We’re looking for a practical and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our friendly Maintenance team at St Antony’s College. This is a full-time role (35 hours per week, worked over five days out of seven) with a salary of £26,707 to £30,378 gross per year, plus an annual Oxford weighting allowance of £1,730.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll play a key role in keeping the College’s buildings and facilities safe, well maintained and welcoming for students, staff and Fellows.
About the role
As our Maintenance Technician, you’ll carry out a wide range of general maintenance tasks across the College estate. You will work independently on some jobs and alongside colleagues or external contractors on others. The role is varied and hands-on, covering internal and external maintenance, minor repairs and routine inspections.
Your work will include:
- Carrying out general maintenance, repairs and renewals across College buildings
- Internal and external decorating, including painting, plastering, minor glazing, carpentry and joinery
- Basic plumbing tasks, such as unblocking WCs and repairing or replacing taps
- Minor groundworks and preparing sites for adverse weather
- Cleaning gutters, drains and gullies
- Responding to maintenance requests logged through the College’s online reporting tool
- Investigating, diagnosing and repairing faults, and escalating issues where needed
- Updating maintenance requests with progress and completion details
- Supporting colleagues and contractors with diagnostic and remedial work
- Following maintenance schedules to complete routine tasks on time
- Carrying out routine inspections of plant rooms, boiler rooms and equipment
- Maintaining tools and equipment safely and helping keep stock records up to date

We are recruiting for a Senior Support Worker to join our Supported Accommodation team in Orkney.
Supported Accommodation Orkney provides a high-quality housing support service for young people aged 16-25 who are homeless in both Kirkwall and Stromness. The Senior Support Worker plays a key role in delivering person-centred, trauma-informed support and helping young people move towards independence and recover from homelessness.
The Senior Support Worker will lead a team of Support Workers to provide a high-quality support service, offering a person-centred approach.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Develop and sustain a good working relationship with the Service Manager to ensure the programme develops in line with key objectives and desired outcomes.
- Develop good communication and working relationships with people we support, colleagues and other professionals.
- Represent Right There programmes positively and establish professional relationships and network with key stakeholders, partnerships, forums, including Local Authority, Social Work, Housing and other relevant bodies.
- Arranging and facilitating regular support and supervision sessions with your team members, utilising best practice in performance management to ensure staff are supported to undertake their roles.
- Completing yearly appraisals and personal development plans with your staff team.
- Complete rota planning, approve leave and plan and allocate shift cover.
- Participate in the National On Call system (on average 1 week in 12 weeks).

· Lead on and develop person-centred Support Plans based on assessed needs and mindful to the wishes of the service user.
· Ensure the process of regular reviews of Support Plans with relevant input from relatives, other professionals and staff colleagues is completed.
· Update service user information in daily reports, care and health monitoring charts, accident and incident reports, and service message systems promptly being clear and accurate at all times.
· Take a practical approach in assisting service users with daily living tasks such as personal care, mobility, nutrition and hydration and end of life care with dignity and respect as directed in the Support Plan.
· Ensure service users receive planned or urgent health care whenever required. Liaising with other support services e.g. District Nurses, where necessary.
· Administer medication as prescribed to service users. Assisting in the management of an effective system for the safe control and administration of medication in line with policy and procedures.
· Support service users socially and emotionally and ensure service users are included in activities of their choice and in accordance with their Support Plan.
· Effectively lead, motivate and support care staff by facilitating “key sessions” with the guidance of the Line Manager.
· Contribute to the smooth running of the Care Home by undertaking daily tasks and routines and participating in team meetings or team initiatives.
· As a representative of the Trust, communicate with everyone living, working or visiting the Care Home clearly, helpfully and respectfully.
· Undertake any such duties or tasks consistent with the operational business of the Trust, the job role and hours of work as may be reasonably required.

Oak House and Acorns, part of Hollybank Trust, is a small community home for 6 Adults with a range of complex physical and learning disabilities, in Worsborough just outside the centre of Barnsley.

ABOUT YOU
You’ll have previous experience of working in a residential care setting with a NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care. You might have previous supervisory experience, like delegating tasks, supporting inductions for new starters and 1 to 1s but this is not essential.
