Senior Support Worker
We are recruiting for a Senior Support Worker to join our Supported Accommodation programme based in Inverness.
Supported Accommodation Inverness provides 24-hour accommodation for care experienced young people aged 16-26 who are leaving care or at risk of homelessness. The Senior Support Worker will lead a team of support workers to provide high-quality support, to meet expected standards and quality outcomes for the people we support and create opportunities for the people we support to provide feedback and contribute to the development of the service.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Develop positive, respectful and compassionate relationships with the people we support, focusing on their strengths and aspirations as individuals.
- Develop positive and supportive relationships with your staff team.
- Establish clear professional boundaries with the people we support and ensuring person centred planning and unconditional positive regard is undertaken by staff.
- Ensuring ‘Keeping You Safe Plans’ for those we support are completed and updated.
- Arranging and facilitating regular support and supervision sessions with your team members, utilising best practice in performance management to ensure staff are supported to undertake their roles.
- Complete yearly appraisals and personal development plans with your staff team. Investigate and resolve any complaints made by the people we support.
- Ensure staff are using support plans to record and assess the progress of the people you we are supporting.
- Support the Registered Manager with robust rota planning and staffing cover to ensure all working shifts are covered
- Empower staff team to respond to incidents by adopting trauma- skilled de-escalation techniques, ensuring incident processes are followed to include escalation to senior management

We're looking for someone who has gained experience of supervising and supporting a staff team as well as being confident in managing your own workload whilst working to deadlines. You will have an understanding of current relevant legislation and policies relating to Throughcare Aftercare, Looked After Children, housing support and social care.
Hours of work are worked on an 8- hour shift with availability to cover weekends as required.
What you can expect from us...
- The post holder will report to the Registered Manager
- Your normal working hours are 39 per week worked Monday to Sunday, between the hours of 08.00 am and 8.00 pm. Some weekend cover will be required
- Your usual place of work will be Old Perth Road, Inverness, IV2
- Annual leave entitlement of 234 hours (equivalent to 6 weeks) pro rata in your first year, rising to 312 hours (equivalent to 8 weeks) pro rata in your second year. This includes public holidays
- You will automatically be enrolled into the People's Pension in the month that you will complete 3-months of employment, providing you meet the auto-enrolment criteria
