This is an exciting opportunity to join a dedicated team of family support practitioners who offer direct home visiting support to families and children (aged 8-13 years). The service is flexible and responsive to the needs of children and families experiencing a range of difficulties. We use a strengths-based approach to support families and children to achieve better outcomes. Needs may relate to health, social or educational issues and the challenges experienced by families referred to the service are diverse:-

The Role
As a Complex Needs Practitioner you will assist with all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, going to appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling and personal care. As well as helping the people we support in their own homes, you’ll also provide emotional support and assist them to maintain relationships with family and friends.
In our service we may use CALM which are physical intervention and escape techniques to ensure the safety of supported individuals, colleagues, and members of the public. Techniques include but are not limited to; posture and distance when supporting, understanding triggers and escalations signs along with guiding individuals away to deescalate situations.
The people we support are all very different with their hobbies and we’ll be looking to you to take an active interest. Their interests include going out for a tasty bite, sensory activities, quiet time on their iPad, relaxing going on holidays, out for walks and to their favourite clubs. One of the gents also attends college and enjoys going out for drives. With your support you’ll reduce social isolation, enable individuals maintain their independence and grow in confidence.

Due to an exciting expansion of services, the hospice is adding to its well-established team.

Women’s Services Practitioner – Intensive Support We are seeking applications from experienced practitioners to deliver a range of support interventions to women referred to New Dawn New Day through our Out of Court Resolution (OOCR) pathway. These women may be diverted from formal criminal justice processes and can present with complex needs and significant barriers to engagement. This post will complement our existing OOCR pathway by working specifically with women who present with a higher level of need and who face greater challenges in accessing support. The role offers an opportunity to provide intensive, wraparound support that is responsive to the realities of women’s lives and rooted in trauma-informed, relational practice. The OOCR pathway is delivered in partnership with the OPCC, and forms part of NDND’s wider commitment to trauma informed support within criminal justice interventions. Support is delivered from our women’s centre in central Leicester and on an outreach basis across the county. This will be an interesting and varied post with the postholder working as part of a small team offering support on both a one-to-one and group basis. The approach is holistic, relational, gender responsive and trauma informed.
