Purpose

The individual in this role, will oversee the development and co-ordination of Dorset Mind's
Children C Young People (CYP) Mentoring Minds 1:1 service. Their responsibilities will include
advancing the service, managing day-to-day operations, and coordinating the service
throughout Dorset. This includes the supervision of a team of Mentoring Minds volunteers to
ensure exceptional service delivery.

Main Duties

  Recruit, onboard, and train CYP Mentoring Minds 1:1 Support volunteers, guiding them to

provide an excellent service to young people.

  Work with CYP Active Monitoring Practitioners to identify young people who may benefit

from continued support through the CYP Mentoring Minds 1:1 service.

  Match participants with suitable CYP Mentoring Minds volunteers to ensure their continued

well-being and personal growth.

  Engage in regular catch up’s with volunteers to check on wellbeing and match suitability.

  Perform administrative tasks for services including but not limited to answering inquiries
about CYP Mentoring Minds, processing referrals, data entry to an online database and
collating feedback.

  Produce case studies, collate and analyse information/data which evidence the work of the

service’s reach and impact.

  Promote the CYP Mentoring Minds 1:1 service through community engagement, networking,
social media, event participation, word-of-mouth strategies, and liaising with referral
partners and stakeholders.

  Develop effective processes and set service standards for Dorset Mind’s CYP Mentoring

Minds 1:1 service.

  To ensure the service remains compliant with statutory, legal, and best practice obligations

and Dorset Mind policies and procedures.

  Report participant feedback, complaints, or concerns in a timely manner to Team Leader.

  Undertake other duties as necessary, aligning with the post's level and nature.

General Duties

  Undergo and actively participate in training relevant to the role.

  Participate in relevant activities that Dorset Mind are involved with (e.g. away days, whole

charity meetings, promotional events).

  Attend and participate in support sessions, team meetings and annual appraisals

QUALIFICATIONS

Relevant qualification for the role equivalent to (but not specifically) QCF
Level 3 in Health & Social Care.

Familiar with the vision, purpose and values of Dorset Mind, and with the
National Mind network

Knowledge of challenges in supporting people with a range of mental health
issues

Knowledge of mental health conditions, coping skills, psychoeducation and
self-management tools and skills like relaxation and or mindfulness

Knowledge and understanding of the stigma associated with mental health and
wellbeing challenges.

Familiar with the Primary and Secondary mental health services including their
roles, limitations and the available support for mild to severe mental health
issues

Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative

Basic  counselling/coaching  skills

Strong interpersonal skills and being able to empathise, negotiate, be assertive
and mediate when necessary

Time management to balance the workload

coping skills
