Job Title: Sewing Teacher (Contractor basis) Reports to: Fundraising Manager (Rebecca Mole) Salary: £20 p/h Date: 18th November 2025 Hours: Flexible Based at: The Cowshed, Rubra 2, Mulberry Business Park, Fishponds Road, RG41 2GY Key Responsibilities: • Plan and deliver engaging sewing classes for children and/or adults at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. • Create a welcoming, encouraging learning environment for all participants. • Prepare projects, demonstrations and lesson plans tailored to each group. • Manage class time effectively to ensure students feel supported and achieve progress. • Oversee safe use of sewing machines and equipment. • Support The Cowshed’s values and represent the charity professionally at all times. Skills: • Confident sewing skills across a range of techniques. • Experience teaching or supporting groups (formal teaching qualification helpful but not essential). • Ability to work independently and lead sessions without supervision. • Good organisational skills and reliability. Competent in using IT. Person Specification: • Kind, non-judgemental, and compassionate attitude. • Friendly, patient and great with both adults and children. • Displays professionalism and confidence. • Calm under pressure. • Demonstrates drive and determination; hard-working and positive with a ‘can do’ approach; likes challenges. • Full driving licence. What we provide: Fully equipped sewing room with machines, fabric and materials. • • A supportive and friendly team. • • All venue and admin support. Set class times and schedules arranged in advance. Contract details: • Contracted on a self-employed basis. • Minimum of six 6-week courses across a year (day, evening or weekend options). • Competitive hourly rate/fee per course (agreed depending on experience).
