Investment Professional
Your primary responsibility will be to conduct deeply fundamental business and financial analysis of new investment opportunities, working directly with Cisu's CIO. In addition, you will be responsible for constructing hedge baskets and working closely with the risk team to stay abreast of developments impacting existing portfolio positions.
Key Responsibilities
Investment analysis and due diligence: rigorous fundamental (“PE-style”) and quantitative research on long investment opportunities across banks, insurance, asset management, wealth management and distribution. Focus on establishing the reasons for the existing price dislocation providing the opportunity and identifying a set of upside catalysts over the next 12-24 months.
Financial modelling: build and maintain detailed financial models to help evaluate and rank investment opportunities, assess risk/reward and run scenario analysis.
Hedging & risk management: construct cross-asset class short baskets, using both fundamental and quantitative tools, to mitigate unwanted market risks for each of your long positions. Continuously re-assess risk/reward and relative sizing of positions, working closely with the trading & risk team.
Market intelligence: remain on top of fundamental news, market technicals, economic indicators and macro/geopolitical events. Focus on developments that have the potential to impact the core investment thesis and/or may require changes to the hedging strategy.

- The Investment Consulting team provides investment advice and services to a range of organisations including pension schemes, corporates, local authorities, endowment funds, charities and high net worth families.

Within the Investment Consulting team there are a couple of professional exam routes than can be taken to allow you to become a qualified consultant:
- To become a qualified Actuaryinvolves completion of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries examinations.

Upon joining the team lots more information can be offered around both possible routes to allow you to make the choice that best suits. We are seeking students who have already had 6 months of experience in investment banking, consulting or alternative asset management.
Team player with strong work ethic, thoughtful and straightforward;
Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal;
Quick learner operating in an organised, structured, and thoughtful manner;
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word);
Fluent in English and another relevant European language is preferred but not essential (French, Spanish, Swedish, Dutch, German)
While prior full time work experience is not required, we do ask that all candidates have completed at least one investment banking internship focussed on corporate finance / M&A or a strategy consulting internship and are able to provide a reference.

The Border to Coast graduate programme is focused on developing knowledge, skills and behaviours in different areas of investment to make a difference to our Partner Funds’ investment outcomes.
Hands-on experience:
Our graduate trainees are immersed in and gain hands-on experience of multiple investment concepts and teams to build skills, knowledge of the industry, what our Partner Funds need and how to develop ideas into compelling proposals.
Over the course of the programme, our Graduate Analysts rotate through functions within our investment team. This includes a foundation rotation in Equity and Fixed Income research working closely with Responsible Investment and learning about Portfolio Risk and Portfolio Management. Graduate Analysts then rotate through teams leading manager selection, Customer Relationship Management, and Alternative Investments. You will work alongside expert colleagues with a wealth of experience in each field to gain hands-on experience.
