Senior DA Specialist – Wakefield

About the role:

The Raneem’s Law Senior Domestic Abuse Specialist works within West Yorkshire Police call contact centres as part of an embedded specialist domestic abuse team.

The postholder is responsible for providing real-time specialist input into domestic abuse incidents, including reviewing risk assessments, listening to emergency calls and providing operational advice to police officers and call handlers to improve victim engagement, safeguarding and risk management.

As a senior practitioner within the team, the postholder also supports the smooth running of daily operations across the contact centres, providing on-call and escalation support across both sites on a rota basis and acting as a point of guidance for other Domestic Abuse Specialists.

Up to 29hours per week, through Monday to Sunday, on a 4-week rota basis. £35,000 FTE per annum. 12-months fixed term initially, based in Wakefield.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have a recognised domestic abuse qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field and experience of multi-agency working including MARAC processes and police or criminal justice agencies. We are looking for someone who has an in-depth understanding of violence against women and girls with knowledge of safeguarding practices and legislation, as well as risk and need assessment and safety planning.

As a Senior DA Specialist, we are looking for someone who has experience of managing services/projects and contributing to service quality, performance and improvement. You will need to be able to analyse complex and sensitive information and provide clear, evidence-based professional advice within a fast-paced service.

Our ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills with the ability, and flexibility, to manage competing priorities and changing demands.
