About the role:
We are recruiting an immigration lawyer to take up the exciting new role of Community Lawyer within ATLEU.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering ATLEU’s community lawyering strategy to bring about meaningful change with and for survivors of human trafficking and exploitation.
The community lawyer will build relationships and work alongside community and survivor led organisations so that ATLEU:
● Understands communities’ needs, the systemic issues they face and their priorities and goals;
● Shares legal knowledge, skills and resources which help to empower communities to advocate for themselves;
● Delivers advice in a way that best reaches survivors where they are;
● Co-produces litigation strategies with communities to bring strategic challenges that tackle systemic injustice and support and amplify community campaigns.

We are a medium-sized firm with offices in Bristol and Swindon and are regulated by the

experienced Level 3 Senior Caseworker with strong expertise in appeals, asylum, and
deportation/removal matters to join our team.
Job Summary
The Level 3 caseworker will manage caseload focusing on immigration appeals, asylum
claims, human rights applications, and deportation/removal cases in compliance with IAA
requirements. You will act as the primary point of contact for clients, provide strategic legal
advice, and represent clients throughout the process.
Requirements
- IAA Level 3 accreditation (mandatory).
- Degree-level education (desirable)
- Demonstrable experience handling immigration appeals, asylum claims, and deportation/removal cases, with strong knowledge of UK immigration and asylum law (including ECHR and human rights grounds), experience using the HMCTS online appeal system, and the ability to manage a complex caseload independently.

appeal matters, including devising legal strategy, assessing merits, providing fee
quotations, and issuing client care documentation in line with regulatory requirements.
4. Prepare and submit asylum applications, further submissions, human rights claims, bail
applications, and urgent removal representations.
5. Draft appeal skeleton arguments, supporting representations, JR, PAP, and applications.
6. Manage appeals through the HMCTS system, including First-tier and Upper Tribunal
matters, and represent clients at tribunals, conferences, and hearings where appropriate.
7. Liaise effectively with HOPO, UKVI, counsel, experts, and other relevant third parties.
8. Stay up to date with developments in immigration, asylum, and human rights law,
policy, and procedure.
9. Participate in peer supervision meetings and contribute to a collaborative team

Purpose of the role
The new Senior Legal Officer will play a key role in supporting ILPA’s legal and policy work on immigration, economic migration, asylum and nationality law.
Working under the direction of the Legal Director, the post holder will engage in detailed legal and policy analysis, support parliamentary and influencing activity, support legal project delivery, and contribute to high-quality information and engagement for ILPA members.
