Sidney Sussex College, is seeking to appoint a Part-Time Catering Assistant (20 hpw) reporting to the Hall Manager. This post offers an exciting opportunity to work within a professional catering operation at the forefront of raising the overall standards of the food and service to the highest level.
The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a passion for delivering a high standard of customer care. Applicants should have a friendly flexible working attitude, good communication skills and a willingness to learn new skills.
This is a permanent, part-time post averaging 20 hours per week which will normally be worked across a 2 week shift system working 5 days out of 7. The salary is currently £13,520 gross per annum (equivalent to £13.00 per hour) moving to £13,988 gross per annum (equivalent to £13.45 per hour) from the 1 February 2026.
Benefits include an annual leave entitlement of 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays pro rata; a contributory pension scheme provided by the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), free College meals when on duty and subsidised membership of the College’s gym facilities. The College is also closed over the Christmas period.

Sidney Sussex College, is seeking to appoint a Housekeeping Supervisor to work within the Housekeeping Department. Reporting to the Head of Housekeeping Services, this post will help to ensure the highest possible standard of cleaning is maintained throughout the College buildings and outlaying hostels.
This post would suit a pro-active, professional individual with supervisory experience and a strong work ethic. Experience of professional cleaning work in an educational or hotel establishment would be useful to the role but training will be provided. The ability to work unsupervised, and the capacity to travel daily to outlaying hostels would be welcomed.
This post is full-time at 37.5 hpw working 5 days in 7, including working weekends. The post will normally work 7.30am – 3.30pm (including an unpaid lunchbreak of half an hour), 5 days in 7, with weekend work required. Flexibility is required especially throughout the conference season. Currently £27,135 gross per annum moving to £27,935 gross per annum from 1 February 2026.
