About the role
Our business is growing. Our client loyalty is high, and to continue to drive our double-digit growth, we need to acquire new clients. That’s the job.
Our Online service has over 400 subscribers worldwide, predominantly manufacturers. We also have a number of retailers and a range of service suppliers in our portfolio of accounts.
The Business Development Manager will play a key role in driving IGD’s commercial activity.
Most importantly, you will be a people person and have a background in developing new business.
The client is at the heart of everything we do, so we are looking for someone who is passionate about driving new business and also has a consultative approach to client acquisition.
The responsibilities
Reporting into the Head of Business Development, these include:
Customer Acquisition
You’ll be building rapport and creating relationships with both cold and warm leads. You will take ownership of the sales process, from first contact to conversion. Getting under the skin of a client’s challenges will be second nature and you will be passionate about proposing the right first step for each of the clients you engage.
Whilst on your mission to win new clients, you will also understand the bigger picture and the importance of sustainable growth.
What you bring
- You have a proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets with 2 years + experience in a quota carrying role
- You will have at least 2+ years’ experience in a B2B and experience of working with FMCG and/or retail clients
- You have a consultative approach to sales and demonstrable skills in both building and managing robust pipelines
- You will have the confidence to talk with senior decision makers, in-person and virtually
- You are self-motivated, comfortable working on your own initiative whilst also being a keen collaborator and team player
- You are proactive, resilient and tenacious with a ‘can do’ attitude, adept at creative problem solving both internally and externally
- You have excellent networking skills and ideally have an existing network of contacts in the FMCG/Retail space
- Experience of a high-performance and customer-focused culture

About the Role
Working in the CRM team, reporting to the CRM and Data Manager, the CRM Data Executive plays a key role in the maintenance of IGD’s database system. Keeping the data as up to date as possible, by executing data cleansing campaigns, updating movers and shakers and dealing with email bounce backs..
Responsible for producing targeted marketing lists to cover all of IGD’s products and services.
Also responsible for lead generation for the Sales Team and supporting other areas of the business as and when required.
CRM Data Management
- Work with CRM Data Manager to ensure data is regularly audited, updated and expanded.
- Assist with mass updates and database changes ensuring work is completed accurately and quickly
- Become totally proficient in the use of CRM for monitoring customers and companies, to become one of the super users within IGD, ensuring we remain GDPR Compliant
- Work with CRM colleagues to ensure that new contacts and companies are verified for approval and unsubscribes are managed on a daily basis
- Assist with the merging of duplicate contacts/companies, trouble shooting with IT where relevant
- Assist with customer login issues promptly, ensuring customers have access to their subscriptions at all times
- Input responses to poll/surveys aimed at updating customer details and preferences
Targeted Marketing Campaigns
Develop an in-depth knowledge of CRM and relevant marketing tools to be able to:
- Produce accurate mailing lists for all areas of the business, maximising our impact whilst minimising customer overload. Take responsibility for the agreed campaign initiatives, ensuring they are actioned as scheduled.
- Ensure all marketing lists are GDPR compliant
- Support the marketing team’s ambitions to improve our account-based marketing and customer lifecycle initiatives, building dynamic lists and customer segments as required
Training and Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide excellent internal customer service by dealing promptly with enquiries and providing accurate and relevant information or supporting processes such as mail merges, setting up advanced finds and exporting data
- Assist with the delivery of induction and refresher training, keeping our materials up to date
- Provide excellent external customer service by logging and actioning enquiries, product/service requests
Sales Lead Generation and Support
- Use available tools to monitor Key Membership and Subscription user contacts, to highlight any changes in role or company to the Sales team
- Follow up any undeliverable emails using sales navigator to track where contacts have moved and obtain new details and permission to remain on the database
Other responsibilities
- When the CRM Manager is out of the office, to be one of the central points of contact for staff with CRM queries
- Identifying improvement opportunities to our systems and processes, working with the CRM Manager and cross functionally as required to implement changes
Knowledge
