Substance Use Worker (Direct Access)

ADA is an award-winning charity, delivering specialist services to reduce harms and promote recovery of individuals and families affected by alcohol and drugs use in the North East of Scotland.
ADA Direct Access services are open 7 days per week. We aim to reduce the risk of harm from alcohol and drug use for individuals, families, and communities.
The successful candidate will offer advice, information and support to enable people to make informed decisions to reduce the harms associated with alcohol and drug use through the provision of services such as Needle Exchange, Helpline, Duty drop, outreach -amongst others. You will provide targeted harm reduction interventions such as Naloxone, Dried Blood Spot Testing, and other relevant actions to help reduce harms.
You will manage a small caseload to support clients with their substance use and provide relevant interventions as well as assessing, care planning and reviewing progress and maintaining accurate client records.
Weekend working is required and is on a rota basis.
Relevant training will be provided to the successful candidate/s.
The roles will be based in Aberdeen at our Hadden Street Office.
PVG membership is essential for this posts.

About our service
Aberlour Futures is an SVQ Training and Assessment Centre with an excellent reputation, earned over 20 years, for delivering high quality vocational education and training for the Early Learning and Child Care workforce in Aberdeen City and Shire. The service also delivers Foundation Apprenticeship programmes, delivered in partnership with secondary schools in Aberdeen. The Foundation Apprenticeship qualifications are aimed at young people in S5/S6 who are considering a career working with children.
What we are looking for
Ideally you will be a qualified SVQ assessor who is interested in developing a career as a Foundation Apprenticeship Tutor. You should have a background in Early Learning and Childcare and/or Playwork and hold qualifications ideally at SCQF Level 9. If you do not possess SVQ Assessor qualifications, you should be an experienced and suitably qualified Childhood Practice Professional who is willing to undertake on the job SVQ Assessor and Foundation Apprenticeship tutor training to join the Aberlour Futures Team.
We also welcome applications from individuals with a teaching qualification who are interested in applying their skills in a vocational learning environment. Your experience in education and learner engagement will be highly valued as part of our team.
You will deliver, assess and moderate a programme of vocational learning in a number of Secondary Schools, supporting students with the Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services (Children and Young People), SCQF Level 6 and Skills for Work Early Education and Childcare National 4/5.
You should be able to provide robust assessment and good quality support to learners. You should have the ability to inspire confidence and motivate learners working in a range of early learning and childcare settings, ensuring their assessment is carried out to the required standards.
This post is advertised as 30 hours per week but consideration could also be made for term time working if this is of interest.
Please note, due to the nature of this role, annual leave is required to be taken during school holidays. A driving license and access to a car is also essential for this post.

Self-Directed Support Advocacy Worker

Advocacy Service Aberdeen (ASA) is a third sector agency providing an independent advocacy service for people who use health and social care services in Aberdeen City. Advocacy helps people speak up about things that are important to them and to have more control over their lives and to have a greater say in decision making and the services they receive.
The successful candidate will provide an independent advocacy service to people to support them in matters related to Self-Directed Support (SDS) and their social care budgets. This will involve helping people identify and develop personal outcome plans; prepare for, express their views and participate in assessments and reviews; challenge decisions; access services and identify solutions to meet their social care needs.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as a commitment to equal opportunities and to the empowerment of individuals and groups. Applicants must be non-judgemental and able to empathise with the experiences of others. The ability to drive and having access to a car is beneficial but not essential. This is a fixed-term contract with the post currently funded by The Scottish Government until March 2027.

Drugs Educator (Grampian)

The DSM Foundation is recruiting a sessional drug educator to join their team in Scotland, delivering workshops to young people, drugs awareness sessions to parents, and training for teachers and other professionals. The role will be based in the Grampian region and working primarily across Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen. This exciting and rewarding role not only provides flexible and varied work, and the potential for future, ongoing work with the DSM Foundation, but also – and importantly – the opportunity to make a vital difference in the lives of young people and enable them to make safer choices about alcohol and drugs.
Suitable candidates will:
– Be passionate about supporting young people to make safer choices about drugs and alcohol;
– Have experience working with young people, ideally including in drug education;
– Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
– Be organised, punctual and reliable;
– Be able to work flexibly during school hours and term dates (around other commitments).
– Be able to drive to schools and settings if this is required.
Key information:
– Training and mentoring will be provided as required, including evidence-based practice, underpinning knowledge, workshop facilitation and safeguarding;
– Hours will be paid on an hourly sessional basis and will be flexible around availability;
– Work will be offered on an ad hoc basis, arranged with notice, and between 2-8 hours per week (term-time only) on average, although this cannot be guaranteed;
– Core delivery area is Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray.

Job Purpose:
- To lead and facilitate the Third Sector contribution to the city-wide implementation of ‘The Promise’.
- To represent the Third Sector at appropriate partnerships, groups and meetings.

Main Tasks

Role Purpose

Your role will be central to the vibrant Avenue team and will focus on ensuring the charity’s sustainability by maximising and diversifying income in addition to growing the charity’s profile within Grampian region.
You will have the ability and confidence to identify, build, and maintain, strong relationships and partnerships both internally and externally, and a gift for storytelling which will inspire and delight donors. Your ability to identify, develop and steward new revenue streams will also be central to your success.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and creative fundraiser to make a fundamental difference to both Avenue and the children and families we support.
Main Duties
• Develop, implement, and undertake ongoing evaluation of a Fundraising Strategy, to include stewardship and development of both existing and new income streams.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with key personnel in relevant funding organisations whilst proactively identifying opportunities for growth
• Collaborate with colleagues and service users to build compelling cases for funding applications based on evidence of need and which are founded in the charity’s values
• Analyse income and expenditure for each project/service in conjunction with Finance colleagues, creating income budgets to include forecasting and contingency planning.
• Ensure effective storytelling and create content for external communications, targeting different audiences.
• Develop joint funding bids and collaborative initiatives with partner organisations.
• Undertake ROI analysis as standard to ensure effort remains focussed on the fundraising activities that are most appropriate and will have the highest chance of success
• Undertake monitoring and evaluation to assess the effectiveness of projects and activities, and undertake all relevant qualitative and quantitative progress reporting as required by funders
• Introduce systems for effective donor stewardship and development
• Represent and promote Avenue’s mission at community and professional events with a view to networking and nurturing relationships
• Monitor funding trends and proactively seek new opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with Avenue’s processes, policies and procedures, in particular Data Protection, Confidentiality, Safeguarding and Child Protection, Equality and Diversity, and Professional Boundaries.
Essential Skills & Experience
• Demonstrable experience of writing compelling and successful funding applications
• Experience of managing multiple funding streams and one-off funding, through to multi-year projects
• Knowledge and understanding of grant management and administration including restricted and unrestricted funding
• Creative and proactive problem solver, with the ability to generate new fundraising ideas
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate people
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a wide range of people
• Proven understanding of third sector finance, and ability to prepare and report against a project budget.
• High level of IT literacy, including ability to use Office 365
Desirable Skills & Experience
• Experience within a third sector service delivery organisation
• Knowledge of funding sources with specific interest in/ relevance to children and family support services
