Advocacy Service Aberdeen (ASA) is a third sector agency providing an independent advocacy service for people who use health and social care services in Aberdeen City. Advocacy helps people speak up about things that are important to them and to have more control over their lives and to have a greater say in decision making and the services they receive.
The successful candidate will provide an independent advocacy service to people to support them in matters related to Self-Directed Support (SDS) and their social care budgets. This will involve helping people identify and develop personal outcome plans; prepare for, express their views and participate in assessments and reviews; challenge decisions; access services and identify solutions to meet their social care needs.
Excellent communication skills are essential, as well as a commitment to equal opportunities and to the empowerment of individuals and groups. Applicants must be non-judgemental and able to empathise with the experiences of others. The ability to drive and having access to a car is beneficial but not essential. This is a fixed-term contract with the post currently funded by The Scottish Government until March 2027.
