CLEANER AND LAUNDRY ASSISTANT

The Post
We are seeking to appoint a Cleaning and Laundry Assistant to join our wonderful Domestic Team and assist in delivering a high-quality cleaning service to meet the needs of our vibrant, happy school. The role will include undertaking routine domestic/cleaning activities.
The successful candidate should be a dedicated, flexible and approachable person. They will be able to work as part of a team, have good communication skills and be able to develop good relations with staff, pupils and the wider school community.
The working hours will vary but will ideally require a 6.00am start OR a 6.00pm finish.
Job Description

To carry out duties which include: cleaning, washing, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, emptying litter bins, polishing and dusting of designated areas (which may include toilets and shower areas) and fixtures and fittings, using where appropriate powered equipment;

To carry out such other duties as may be allocated from time to time;

To report all defects/hazards immediately to the Cleaning Supervisor;
-
To ensure that all equipment used is in full, safe working order, promptly reporting any faults to the Cleaning Supervisor;
-
To follow safe working practices at all times and in particular to observe all Fire/Health and Safety/ COSHH regulations;

To participate in training in order to effectively undertake all aspects of the role;

To maintain a high standard of personal hygiene with special attention to hands, hair care and appearance;

To be an active and helpful member of the team, to contribute to staff meetings, to attend training sessions and to contribute to ensure that the School is a friendly and supportive working environment.
The School
Ashfold is an established co-educational Preparatory School for around 250 children aged 3-13+ set in a beautiful Jacobean mansion with its own thirty-acre estate in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside just twenty minutes from Oxford, Thame and Aylesbury.

Graduate Assistant - Placement Year
Position: Graduate Assistant - Placement
Salary: £7,000 (Sept-July) including free accommodation and meals during term-time
We are seeking to employ a suitable candidate for a 10 month placement position supporting our wider teaching colleagues to promote an enthusiasm for, and excellence in, the various academic and extra-curricular subjects throughout the school.
This role can also be tailored to suit the focussed skillset and interests of the successful candidate.They will assist with the learning in, and administration of, a busy and dynamic relevant department, dependent upon the individual's core skills and experience. Living in the boarding house, they will also assist Head of Boarding with evening activities and boarding routines and be an integral part of the boarding house team providing pastoral support and guidance in a caring, family setting.
The successful candidate must be able to work effectively as a team member with the ability to show initiative when required. We expect our staff to take a full and active part in all aspects of school life and so the post holder will be a person who is flexible, have a ‘can do’ attitude, be a positive role model for young children and adopt high standards of personal conduct in order to maintain the respect of parents, pupils and colleagues. They will be given responsibilities within the relevant department and work closely alongside the sport and academic staff in the teaching and learning of a varied age group of children.

We encourage and celebrate participation in sport and the arts, including art and design technology, drama and music as well as a wide variety of extra-curricular activities enabling every child to develop their individual strengths, talents and interests and discover new ones.
