There are 2 voluntary roles available. We are seeking two individuals from different ethnic backgrounds to enhance our representation through the following:
Grow and engage a community of students, ensuring participation across the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities;
Help the SU organise and host cultural events, starting with our annual Black History Month celebrations.
Help the SU to improve equal opportunities for BAME students at the University and challenge racism;
Gather feedback and discuss BAME student interests, sharing key issues with the Student Affairs Committee;

Beds SU is the student charity of the University of Bedfordshire. We are recruiting trustees to our Board of Trustees to help further students’ interests and improve their lives as students.
Students at our university embark on life-changing journeys and the students’ union supports, services and campaigns to enhance their university experiences and outcomes.
In overseeing our strategic achievement, Trustees are crucial to ensuring our activities are adaptive to our unique membership. The student body is among the most mature and ethnically diverse in the UK, we have a thriving community of International Students and a growing number of apprentices. Many of our Members are students with children and student commuters, and many engage in work-based placements as part of their study, such as in schools and hospitals.
The SU had a turnover of £1.70m in 2024. We employ students as representatives and in front-facing services alongside 14 permanent staff, and we enable student volunteers and employ students to support our services from year-to-year.
In 2025 we will welcome a new strategic plan and prepare for new, as-yet-unknown, students’ union spaces. With turnover of trustees in the next 12 months, new trustees will re-establish a team culture at Board and work alongside student leaders and senior managers to achieve on an exciting ambitious strategy.
A diversity of backgrounds and perspectives, both in person and in profession, will enhance the Board’s collective capability. We seek applicants who share our values for students.
We strive to see the Board reflective of the community we serve and encourage applications from those from Asian, Black and other ethnic minority backgrounds as they are or have been under-represented at Beds SU.

There are 2 voluntary roles available. We are seeking two individuals who identify with having a disability (hidden or physical) or identify with being neurodivergent to enhance our representation through the following:
1. Grow and engage a community of students, ensuring participation across the disabled and neurodivergent communities;
2. Help the SU organise and host events, that engage, celebrate and speak to students within these communities.
3. Help the SU to improve equal opportunities and accessibility for students with disabilities and neurodivergent students here at the University;
4. Gather feedback and discuss interests of students within these communities, sharing key issues with the Student Affairs Committee;
