Job Description:
This is an exciting new role building a community for our families affected by acquired brain injury. The Community Inclusion Coordinator will be home based (and ideally live in the South West region of England), as there will be travel across the South West facilitating various events offering support and empowering opportunities to our families. The post holder will build a network of community support services to ensure all children and young people affected by childhood ABI, and their families are able to access appropriate information and the support they need within the community.
You will need to be able to manage your own time and workload with minimal supervision and work well within a team. This role requires an understanding how to build effective support networks locally, working across statutory, voluntary and community sectors to provide holistic support pathways for children and young people.
You will need to be compassionate, empathetic and have the ability to engage and connect with people of all ages and above all, treat people with respect and dignity in line with the values of the Child Brain Injury Trust. The successful candidate will have:
- An understanding of the support needs of children and young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND)
- An understanding of local and regional services across the South West that can support the needs of families in the community
- Relevant experience supporting families with special educational needs and disability (SEND)
- Relevant knowledge of multi-disciplinary working
- Relevant experience organising, hosting and facilitating community events and support groups building community inclusion services.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
