PERIPATETIC PIANO TEACHER (Temporary – for up to three terms) Approximately 6 hours per week Required from March 2026. Manchester High School for Girls is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced, and enthusiastic piano teacher on a self-employed, temporary basis to join our Music Department. The successful candidate will be required to provide individual lessons on a one-to-one basis to students in our Preparatory and Senior Schools. The students at Manchester High School for Girls learn instruments for many reasons; some aspire to be professional musicians, whilst for others it is a diversion from other pressures. We are primarily looking for a teacher who will instil a lifelong enjoyment of music making, whilst maintaining the highest levels of ambition for each of their pupils. An ability to teach all age and ability levels up to diploma level is an absolute necessity. It is expected that the successful post holder will promote the performance of students within the Music Department, including participation in music festivals, ABRSM examinations, as well as in our monthly twilight concert series. The post holder will be engaged on a temporary, self-employed basis and in the first instance, we anticipate there will be the equivalent of one day available per week. This role is for up to three terms only. Excellent communication, planning and delivery is essential to this role, and above all else we want to recruit someone with a passion for teaching children and inspiring the next generation to love music.
