About the RoleBHA for Equality is seeking a
Peer Navigatorto provide practical and emotional support to people living with Hepatitis B. Using your lived experience, you will work closely with clinical teams and partner organisations to ensure individuals receive holistic care and support. This post has a Genuine Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 for the postholder to have lived experience of Hepatitis B.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will provide one to one support in hospitals, clinics and community spaces and help people navigate their journey with compassion and practical expertise. You will coordinate social care support, advocate for your clients, and make referrals to services that can help. Through your work, you will help people engage with treatment and stay connected to care, building trusting relationships that make all the difference. You will keep careful records using our digital systems, tracking progress and outcomes so we can continue to improve our services. You will also share your knowledge with others, delivering awareness sessions that help reduce stigma around Hepatitis B and bloodborne viruses in our communities.
About YouWe want to hear from you if you have lived experience of Hepatitis B or experience supporting people affected by it. Your insight will be invaluable in this role. You understand the challenges faced by marginalised communities and can work with sensitivity, respect, and cultural awareness. You are comfortable working across multidisciplinary teams, contributing to care plans, and bringing different perspectives together for the benefit of the people you support. You communicate with warmth and clarity, and you understand the critical importance of confidentiality in this work. You are flexible and willing to travel across Greater Manchester, with occasional evening or weekend work.
RequirementsYou must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to complete an enhanced DBS check. Most importantly, you need to share BHA's commitment to equality, inclusion, and community led approaches to health.
