CISWO is a national charity whose mission is to improve the lives of individuals and communities facing disadvantage due to the impact of the coal mining industry.
We are looking for a development manager with a range of skills and experience to support other mining charities develop a sustainable future. You will have a background in partnership working and developing funding opportunities, as well as a good understanding of charity governance.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in community development with a good knowledge of the charity sector.
As Development Manager, you will:
- Support mining charities to develop business plans and budgeting and help them to identify funding opportunities and develop funding proposals.
- Provide secretariat services to mining related regional grant making charities.
- Contribute to the development of and promote the organisations support offer for other mining charities, seeking new methods of supporting local trustees.
- Support the recruitment and training of local trustees and officers, encouraging good governance
- Develop local partnership working with other voluntary sector organisations, tiers of local government and local communities.
- Ensure the organisation interests and responsibilities in partner charities are retained and fulfilled.
- Represent the organisation with external parties, including, welfare charities, councils and local authorities as required
The essential qualities, skills and experience you will need to apply for this role:
- Experience of community development and / or business development and an understanding of business planning and budgets
- Experience of identifying and applying for funding on a national, regional, or local level.
- Proven experience of working in the charity sector with a good understanding of governance requirements and the challenges facing the sector.

We are currently recruiting for a maternity cover for our Senior Management Team Assistant position based at our Head Office in Whiston, Rotherham. The role will involve providing comprehensive administrative and organisational support to members of the senior management team, ensuring the smooth running of projects, meetings, and wider operational activity.
You will support the senior management team with a wide range of administration tasks including diary and calendar management, scheduling internal and external meetings, preparing agendas, taking accurate minutes, tracking actions, and coordinating logistics such as travel, accommodation and hospitality. You will also be responsible for producing reports, presentations and briefs, collating and analysing information, maintaining electronic and paper filing systems, and ensuring compliance with data protection and quality control standards.
You will have excellent administrative skills, including strong document formatting and minute-taking, and experience of supporting senior management. You will be highly organised, proactive and able to prioritise your workload effectively, with excellent IT skills and the ability to produce high quality written reports and presentations. We are currently recruiting for an Administration Assistant for our Mansfield office. The role will involve providing comprehensive administrative support to CISWO’s regional personal welfare service, working as part of a team supporting former miner workers and their families.
Please note this is an office based role.
As Administration Assistant, you will:
- Provide administrative support for the office, including taking detailed referrals from individuals via telephone/email/website or visits to the office, maintaining and updating the organisation’s databases
- Prepare paperwork to support the personal welfare team in dealing with client enquiries and home visits.
- Respond and process general enquiries from individuals and partner agencies including other mining charities
- Handle front line telephone enquiries and visitors to the office
- Deliver a full range of office skills to a high standard including producing letters and reports, photocopying, scanning, filing, archiving and dealing with the incoming and outgoing post.
