Youth Worker - Systems Change Lead

• Full time

The main aims of the post are to ensure:

• The lifelong skills, confidence and abilities of LGBTQ+ young people is developed so they influence system change locally and beyond.

• Services and strategic decisions give intentional consideration to the needs of LGBTQ+ young people and avoid discrimination by omission.

• LGBTQ+ young people become role models for others and build a legacy of change across Calderdale and Kirklees

The above would be achieved through group work, youth groups, residential trips, engagement with other services and education providers.

This is a service user and public facing role. The successful candidate will be expected to attend sessions, meetings and events across in Calderdale & Kirklees

The right candidate will have:

• JNC Level 6 Youth and Community Work qualification. We welcome applicants with equivalent qualifications and experience in relevant sectors inclusive of child care, teaching, social work, nursing etc (or due to complete 2026 - 2027).
• A minimum 12-months experience of working with children, young people aged 25 and under and/or families
• Experience of working with young people in participatory or coproduction settings
• Experience building partnerships and influencing change.
• A passion for equity, inclusion and amplifying underrepresented voices.
• Knowledge of issues affecting LGBTQ+ young people, including intersectional identities.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
• A flexible approach to work and willingness to work some evenings and weekends
• A full clean driving license and access to a car
