Youth Worker
Closing date for applications: 4th September 2026
Hours: Part-time
The Benefice of Dartmouth and Dittisham is looking to recruit a skilled, God-loving person to join their adventure in Dartmouth, reaching out to the children, young people and families of their wonderful town.
This role will involve working alongside their Youth, Children and Families Lead to innovate and pioneer new ways to engage with unchurched young people within their parish.
The work will be varied in response to need and season. This is a new role, and as such, some aspects are able to be moulded to fit the new post holder.
Requirements of the role:
- Mission-minded, with a desire to share the gospel with younger generations
- Experience of working with young people is essential – this could be as a volunteer or employed
- Self-motivated, but able to work within a team which includes volunteers
- Ability to work sensitively, understanding the need to respond pastorally to new people and to those already in the church
- Creativity for new style events and providing discipleship opportunities for children and young people
- Sense of humour and resilience
- Ability to build relationships with diverse range of people including children, young people, parents, teachers, other agencies
- Awareness of current issues for children’s health and wellbeing
- Flexible hours to suit the right applicant (minimum 18 hours). Will involve some weekend and evening work including attending a service on Sunday.
- Enhanced DBS check required and safeguarding training provided
- An active Christian faith and passion for others to find faith in Jesus (There is an occupational requirement for the role holder to be a Christian in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1 S.3)
Qualifications such as certificate, diploma or degree in a relevant field would be welcomed and further training and support will be provided. However, your demonstrable experience of working with young people is as important as your formal qualifications.
The ability to demonstrate a desire for CPD and to join in with networking events and training is essential.
The role will be based at St Clement’s Church in Dartmouth, part of the Dartmouth and Dittisham Benefice. The church is sited at the top of the town, near to the residential areas where the majority of families live. It is well-equipped with a cafe area, recently installed AV equipment and has flexible seating.
Please apply by CV and covering letter to info@dartmouthanddittisham-anglican.org outlining your suitability for the role, especially any specialist skills you may have which may be of use such as: sporting, art/crafting, music, hospitality, outdoor education and/or digital evangelism.
References will be required, ideally at least one from someone in a church leadership role.
