Dear Applicant,

Are you passionate about dance and the arts? Are you a warm and creative person who enjoys
building relationships and working with communities? Do you want to gain experience in arts
administration and project delivery?

Yorkshire Dance are looking for a part time Youth & Community Trainee to join our team.

This role is fully funded by Leeds Community Foundation, to ensure access for those who are
currently under-represented in the arts. We are committed to aligning this role with the Culture
Consortium Leeds’ ‘Let’s Talk’ initiative, which addresses the persistent lack of representation of
Black and Brown individuals within the creative sector in Leeds.

We particularly welcome applications from people of African or Caribbean heritage and people of
South, East and South East Asian heritage, as they are currently under-represented at Yorkshire
Dance.

This is a great opportunity to gain a rounded experience in a busy arts organisation, including (but
not limited to):

• Assisting with co-ordination, planning and delivery within Yorkshire Dance’s Youth and

Community programme.

• Communicating with families, artists and participants.
• Supporting the delivery of dance sessions in the community for all ages.

Each year, Yorkshire Dance supports 200 dance artists, hosts 2 dance festivals (audience of 1,500),
supports 2 sub-regional dance networks and delivers 1,400 weekly community dance sessions (1,000
participants). Dance sessions take place in our studios, in community centres and care homes
throughout Leeds and Bradford. You can find out more about our current programmes on our
website and social media.

You will be based in our city-centre building which hosts our offices and studio spaces, giving you a
real insight and experience of working in a lively arts venue. We are open to conversations around
flexible work patterns.

Yorkshire Dance offers a supportive work environment, in addition to a range of benefits which
include:

• Training opportunities relevant to your role and the organisation (e.g. the full staff team have
recently undertaken training in anti-racism, Dementia Awareness and Trans Awareness)
• An annual Go See Fund to purchase tickets for dance performances (and complimentary

tickets for most performances run by Yorkshire Dance)

• Maternity and sickness pay in line with our policies
• Tech scheme
• Cycle to work scheme
• Eye care
• Access to our Employee Assistance Care Programme, run by One Dance UK
• Discounted travel with First Buses

If you would like to have an informal chat about the post, or have any queries, please contact us on
