About the role
National Star is seeking an inspirational tutor to join our Greensteps team based in central Cheltenham with potential travel to other sites including Thornbury and Tewkesbury to support our current cohort of learners completing their work placements. You will be delivering high quality, E3-L2 employability programmes for young people with a range of disabilities and support needs.
With an understanding of a post 16 curriculum that prepares young people for adulthood, you will have experience of planning and delivering innovative and person-centred sessions to young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.
You will ideally need to hold a relevant teaching qualification at level 5 or above and we would be especially keen to hear from you if you have experience in planning and delivering an enriched and exciting curriculum for: Digital Literacy / Digital Technology, Social Enterprise, Functional Skills, English and Maths to level 2 within a SEND (Special Education Needs) environment.
Your assessment of starting points, distance travelled, differentiated teaching skills that support young people to develop their skills, knowledge and experience for the wider world, as well as recognition and recording of progress, will meet required professional standards and ensure high quality provision for our students.
It goes without saying that you will be a first-class communicator, who is creative, proactive and forward-thinking. You will need to possess excellent team working skills to successfully collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, building positive relationships with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders to maximise learning, independence and wellbeing in order to enable students to achieve aspirational and personalised outcomes.
This will be a full teaching position within our team working 10.5 hours per week (ideally to include a full day on Friday + half day one other day) over 40 weeks (term time plus one week).
