Location: Walsall, West Midlands (hybrid minimum four days in the office)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent, 37 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Work Planner to join our Building Safety team at whg.
This role is key to ensuring the efficient planning and scheduling of both planned and reactive compliance works, including gas, electrical, asbestos and fire safety activities.
Working closely with Engineer Team Leaders, you’ll manage engineers’ diaries, optimise resources and ensure all works are delivered in line with regulatory requirements, SLAs and KPIs, while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and operational efficiency.
Flexible working is required to meet the demands of the service which operates between 8am and 6pm. Your manager will advise you in advance when the team is required to start and finish work. Your normal start and finish times may be varied from time to time at the discretion of your manager. You may be required to work additional hours, in accordance with operational requirements.
Main job responsibilities:
- Planning and scheduling work efficiently across engineers’ diaries using the DRS system, intervening manually where required
- Ensuring planned compliance programmes (e.g. gas servicing, EICRs) are delivered in line with KPIs and regulatory deadlines
- Managing a high and varied volume of work, including emergency, reactive and planned activity. This will involve coordinating and prioritising tasks such as follow-on works, variations, non-appointed jobs, as well as managing cancelled, carded and suspended appointments to ensure minimal disruption and continued service delivery
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records across systems
- Working closely with Engineer Team Leaders to monitor performance, identify inefficiencies and challenge where required
- Acting as the first point of contact for scheduling queries
- Liaising directly with customers to resolve appointment or scheduling issues
- Supporting with no access cases, including customer contact and assisting with legal/court processes
- Monitoring and responding to tasks allocated to the Planning (Compliance) Team
- Working collaboratively with the Admin (Compliance) Team to ensure customers are informed of appointments
- Supporting system improvements, including user acceptance testing and feedback
- Reconciling and analysing large volumes of planning and performance data
We're looking for someone who has:
- A good knowledge and understanding of planning and scheduling software or systems.
- Knowledge of Electronic Data Management Systems.
- A qualification at Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent.
- An understanding of building compliance legislation.
- Experience working within an assets/ maintenance function.
- An understanding of the construction industry and the use of trade skills in property maintenance.
- Good Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Strong evidence of producing statistical information and reports using computerised and manual systems.
- Significant experience of the planning and control of a high volume of work orders
- Experience dealing with customers and challenge where necessary in a calm and respectful manner.
- The ability to review workflows and suggest improvements and efficiencies.
- Experience of liaising with sub-contractors and other suppliers to programme jobs.
- The ability to work as part of a team as well as on your own initiative.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to manage a high volume of work orders effectively
