Job Title

Woodlands and Estate Maintenance Worker

Reporting To

Woodlands and Estate Maintenance Foreman

Overview

Grimsthorpe Estate and Properties

37.5 hours per week plus unpaid breaks

To carry out the development and ongoing maintenance of the woodlands,
landscape and Estate properties to the highest standards, with consideration
for the best environmental and conservation practices.

DESCRIPTION OF MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Woodlands

•  Thinning, felling and cross cutting
•  Extraction – manual and mechanical
•  Planting new woodlands and specimen trees
•  Fencing and tree guards for protection against game, vermin and livestock
•  Plantation maintenance – formative pruning/crown lifting, timely removal of tree guards,

weeding

•  Firewood production and delivery
•  Weed removal – manual, mechanical and chemical

Amenity Planting and Hedgerow Trees

•  Specimen tree planting and protection within avenues and the landscape
•  Regular maintenance – weeding, mulching, pruning, removal and replanting

Machinery

•  Use of tractors and implements, mowers, chainsaws and other relevant hand machinery
•  Routine maintenance of tractors and implements, mowers, chainsaws and other relevant

hand machinery

Estate Maintenance

•  Stock and garden fencing erection and maintenance including iron fencing and tree guards
•  Weed removal – manual, mechanical and chemical
•  Gate erection and maintenance
•  Hedge planting, maintenance and trimming
•  Road repairs
•  Garden maintenance

Compliance with the Trust’s health and safety policy and all health and safety rules and regulations
for the better and safer execution of all day-to-day work.

To be flexible in the approach to work hours to help cope with emergencies and other
unforeseen occurrences.

General statement

You may be asked to undertake additional roles and responsibilities from time to time as
requested by the Managing Trustee, or other managers.

You must ensure you comply with the policies and procedure of the organisation at all times.

As part of your role, you are required to keep your skills up to date and to take part in training
and development that is offered.
