Are you looking for a job where you can make a real difference? At Phyllis Tuckwell, we pride ourselves on offering exceptional care to our patients and their families and carers.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior nurse to join our friendly, supportive team in preparation for our move back to a new 18 bedded in-patient unit at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham. The In-patient Unit is currently a 10 bedded unit, located in temporary accommodation in Camberley.

Phyllis Tuckwell is looking to appoint an experienced registered nurse to our busy IPU team. Working alongside the IPU Manager and multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will lead, manage, develop, and support the nursing team in the delivery of high-quality end of life care. The Ward Sister is also expected to deputise in the IPU Manager’s absence, and to support in the introduction of new initiatives and improvements. The Ward Sister will work with colleagues to support a culture consistent with our values of compassion, inclusion, dynamism and accountability.

    About You:
A successful Ward Sister/Charge Nurse will have:
    • Have experience working at Ward Sister/Charge Nurse/Senior Nurse level or be able to demonstrate proven ability to operate in a senior clinical leadership role.
    • Have experience in, and a commitment to, high quality end of life and palliative care.
    • Demonstrate the ability to lead a nursing team and provide day to day management and support to ensure the smooth running of the ward and the delivery of high-quality nursing care.
    • Have experience of directly managing staff and attending to their development needs, through regular 1:1s, appraisals and performance management.
    • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Have excellent organisational and administrative skills, and the ability to prioritise workload, both on and off the ward.
    • Demonstrate a commitment to practice development, education, audit, continuous learning and quality improvement within the inpatient setting.

For a full list of essential requirements, please refer to the job description and person specification document.
