About the service
Sense Scotland Dundee Respite is registered with the Care Inspectorate to provide a care home service for people with a learning disability and additional complex needs, including but not limited to, communication, behavioural support and sensory impairment.
Situated in the heart of the city and delivering 24-hour person-centred support, the service runs short breaks, respite and residential care seven days a week, all year round.
The core aim of Dundee Respite is to provide a fun and stimulating service unique and developed in consultation with the people we support and their families. The service provides opportunities for those who use it to access a range of activities both within the building and in the wider community, depending on individual wishes and aspirations. It offers an environment for people to meet up with their peers, enjoy leisure time together but also develop independent living skills.
The support delivered is unique to the person supported and tailored to their social, emotional and physical needs.
About the role
At Sense Scotland, we believe that night-time care is just as important as daytime support. Our Waking Night Support Team at Dundee Respite Service plays a vital role in ensuring that the people we support feel safe, comfortable, and valued throughout the night.
As a Waking Night Support Worker, you’ll be an integral part of a dedicated team, working to create a calm and reassuring environment where individuals with complex needs and learning disabilities can rest peacefully and wake up feeling secure, refreshed, and well cared for. This 35 hour role is key in maintaining the safety and well-being of the people we support during the night.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting regular "keeping safe" checks to ensure well-being.
- Supporting individuals with evening and morning routines.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Accurately updating support plans, incident logs, and health & safety records.
- Providing personal care, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Creating a therapeutic, reassuring atmosphere to enhance well-being.
We provide full training, induction, and work-shadowing to set you up for success.
Shift details:
Shifts are 9:45 PM – 7:45 AM on a rolling rota
Our rota is designed to support work–life balance and follows a two-week rolling schedule:
- Week 1:Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday
- Week 2:Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
This means staff work four nights in Week 1 and three nights in Week 2, with the pattern repeating every two weeks.
