Volunteer Visitor Support
We’re looking for friendly volunteers who can help support visitors attending the hospice for pre-arranged appointments by providing a warm welcome and assisting with any necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and relevant paperwork. This role helps ensure visitors feel comfortable, informed, and supported during their time at the hospice.

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

Ability to work well as part of a team but to take individual decisions when necessary.

Ability to be around people in distress and remain calm.

Ability to be respectful and kind towards all, being mindful of their individual needs and being supportive towards those who may have additional challenges, such as sensory or physical impairment or a long-term condition.
Experience & Knowledge:

Familiarity with hospice philosophy.

A keen interest in contributing and participating in local community services.
Requirements:

Minimum commitment of 6 months.

Respect of others’ beliefs and points of view.

Respect and maintain confidentiality.

Commitment to adhere to Medway Community Healthcare/Hospice policies and values and the ability to apply awareness of these to all areas of volunteering role.

Satisfactory clearance form Disclosure & Barring Service

To attend mandatory and any ongoing/developmental courses appropriate to placement responsibilities.

Ongoing commitment to supervision.

Please note all applicants must be over the age of 18 and require a Standard DBS check.
Availability:
Hours: There are set shift times of 10am-1pm, 2.30pm-6pm, 6pm-8pm. We are flexible in regards that it may be possible to volunteer weekly, every other week, or on an ad hoc basis, depending on what suits your schedule.
Days: Monday to Sunday
