Are you interested in becoming more involved in the strategic future of the Institute? IOM3 has a portfolio of 16 scholarly journals we produce with our publishing partners. To nurture our relationship with our publisher, editors, authors and readers, IOM3 is seeking to recruit a new Chair for its Scholarly Publications Committee (SPC). Meeting about four times a year (three online, one hybrid), the SPC provides strategic, non-executive advisory support and direction for the IOM3 scholarly publications programme from authors, editors and users of scholarly journals.
Time Commitment:
Alongside the quarterly committee meetings, the Chair will take part in preparatory meetings with IOM3 staff and handle ad‑hoc tasks linked to each meeting. As the SPC is a sub‑committee of the Commercial Activities Board (CAB), the Chair will also join CAB as a member and attend its quarterly meetings (three online and one hybrid). The role is flexible and designed to fit alongside full‑time professional commitments.
As Chair, you lead the committee to:
- Bring researcher and stakeholder perspectives into the journals programme
- Shape the strategic direction of IOM3’s publishing activity
- Explore new ideas, topics, and opportunities for growth
We are seeking a Chair from any IOM3 technical background with experience in:
- Publishing scholarly research;
- Producing scholarly research for publication;
- Editing scholarly publications; or
- Working for a scholarly publisher
We are happy to arrange informal conversations for anyone who would like to find out more.
Any member in good standing who is interested in supporting the aims of the SPC is invited to apply. Please submit a CV and a brief statement outlining what you would prioritise as Chair to strengthen and improve the journal offering. Applications should be sent to Anita Horton, Head of Governance (anita.horton@iom3.org) by close of business on Monday 1st June 2026.
