Volunteer – Hairdresser
The Inpatient Unit, our small ward, is looking for a volunteer hairdresser or barber. For many patients, having their hair washed, cut, or styled can make a real difference to how they feel – supporting dignity, comfort, and wellbeing during their stay with us.
What we need
If you’re experienced in hair cutting and styling and are willing to help out for a few hours a week we’d love to hear from you.
What we want you to offer
The hospice aims to provide a compassionate and professional service to patients who may be unable to visit a salon themselves. You’d be giving them a sense of normality and personal care at an important time Working closely with our clinical team you’ll be able to make sure hairdressing care is given safely and respectfully.
What you’ll be doing
- providing hairdressing services to inpatients, such as washing, cutting, drying, and styling
- offering a friendly, calm, and reassuring experience
- acting sensitively with patients who may be unwell, fatigued, or at end of life
- liaising with nursing staff to ensure patients are well enough to receive hair care
- maintaining high standards of hygiene and infection control at all times
- respecting the patient’s dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
This role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
