Volunteer Coordinator: Manchester Cathedral
Volunteer Coordinator: Manchester Cathedral
The Volunteer Coordinator will manage the recruitment, training and skills development of all volunteer roles across the Cathedral, including safeguarding and the reward and recognition of members of a committed, diverse and cohesive volunteer community.
Volunteering is an integral part of the Cathedral’s life and work. Our volunteering programme develops skills, facilitates a sense of belonging, and provides a rewarding outlet for many people.
The Volunteer Coordinator will manage the recruitment, training and skills development of all volunteer roles across the Cathedral, including safeguarding and the reward and recognition of members of a committed, diverse and cohesive volunteer community.
The Volunteer Coordinator will work within Cathedral structures and with senior officers, and through such other partnership organisations as the Cathedral may from time to time enter into. These partnerships will include service level agreements to manage such partnerships.
Job context
The opportunity to review and improve how volunteering works has been made possible through the Manchester Cathedral Development Project. The success of the project critically depends on having volunteers who work together with the Cathedral to engage with visitors, stakeholders and our internal and external communities. To that end volunteers must be diverse, keen, enthusiastic, well trained, well cared for and valued. The project will assist this process by the inclusion for the first time of a dedicated volunteer hub situated in the Cathedral.
In order to build a more effective volunteer community, the Volunteer Coordinator will work closely with relevant Cathedral staff, the NLHF Development Phase Activity Planner and members of the Activity Plan team to ensure that appropriate plans for volunteer management and activity are developed. Volunteer voices and opinions will be integrated into this process to benefit from their insights and experience.
Funding for the post is provided jointly by the Cathedral and by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
