Volunteer Coordinator (Essex) Maternity cover.

Fixed term contract until 31.3.2027 

Level 5 £30,600  35 hours per week

We are looking for an individual who has experience in working as a Volunteer Coordinator. You will be part of The Children’s Society East Team.

This is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of several projects who work together to support children and young people affected by a range of issues across East Anglia. The role will support and lead Volunteers in their role; offering advice, guidance and practical support around issues including parental substance misuse, parental mental health, domestic violence and offending behaviour, tenancy support, participation, group support and supporting practitioners in 121 sessions where a second support worker is required.

You will also manage and coordinate the members of our volunteering team to deliver direct support and develop links within the community.

In order to be successful with this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate that you have extensive experience of: -

Delivering direct interventions with vulnerable young people (8-18) and adults on both a one to one and group work capacity.

Co-ordinating and developing a volunteer team through effective recruitment and robust inductions and training.

Extensive partnership working internally to match and identify Volunteering partnerships and externally to promote and facilitate community networking.

You will work as part of a team and need to be able to work in a flexible way which includes flexing their day and work location as need indicates, including being based in the locality office in Chelmsford, Essex and working in the home environment to increase convenience and accessibility.

You will need to demonstrate that you have:

  • A relevant professional qualification working with vulnerable children and families is desired e.g., Diploma/degree in social work, counselling qualification, professional youth worker or related NVQ or degree. of working with vulnerable young people facing significant challenges within this sector.Or Substantial relevant experience
  • Substantial experience of working with vulnerable young people and familiesthat are hard to reach and from diverse backgrounds on both a one-to-one basis and through group work interventions.
  • Experience of supporting volunteerswho are supporting CYP and adults who are dealing with complex and sensitive issues through offering advice and advocacy.
  • Experience of partnership and multi-agency working.
  • Experience of working on one’s own and within a team.
  • Experience of using IT based case management systems
