About You

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about developing a career in

education, support, administration or customer serviceand would benefit from the opportunity to gain practical workplace experience.

You'll be proactive, organised and willing to learn from experienced professionals. You'll have good written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage your time effectively. You'll also understand the importance of professionalism, confidentiality and handling sensitive information appropriately.

Confidence using Microsoft Office, including

Word, Excel and Outlook, is important. An interest in teaching or classroom support, an understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality, or an interest in studying towards aTeaching Assistant Level 3 qualificationwould be advantageous.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in supporting learners to achieve and progress.

About the Role

As a

Volunteer Classroom Learning & Learner Supportvolunteer, you will work alongside experienced Tutors and Learner Support professionals, gaining practical experience within a professional learning environment.

You will support a range of classroom and learner activities, including preparing classrooms and learning resources, assisting learners with set work, encouraging positive behaviours and supporting learners to overcome barriers to their learning. You may also help with attendance calls, communications and general administration.

This is a learning and development placement, so you won't be expected to arrive knowing everything. You will receive structured

on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring and regular feedbackto help you develop your skills and professional confidence.

Through the placement, you'll gain practical experience in areas such as classroom and tutoring support, learner support, safeguarding, administration, professional communication, customer service, organisation and time management.

The placement is approximately

18 hours per week across three consistent days, ideally for around six months. Reasonable travel expenses incurred when attending the office will be reimbursed in accordance with Central YMCA's Volunteer Expenses Policy.Ready to take your first step towards a career in education?
