Job purpose:

The Volunteer and Community Fundraising Officer plays an important role in delivering Women’s Aid Luton’s community fundraising and volunteering programme. The postholder will support income generation by building strong relationships with local communities, supporters and partners, while also developing and coordinating a positive and inclusive volunteer offer. This role combines fundraising and volunteer engagement to strengthen community support, increase income and enhance our impact.

Specifically, the postholder will be responsible for the following: -

Volunteer Coordination Responsibilities

• Lead on the recruitment, induction and onboarding of volunteers ensuring a welcoming and inclusive process.

• Ensure all volunteers receive appropriate training, supervision and safeguarding guidance in line with organisational policies and trauma-informed practice.

• Support the development of clear volunteer role descriptions in collaboration with all teams, ensuring roles are meaningful and aligned with organisational need.

• Act as the main point of contact for volunteers, providing regular communication, guidance and support.

• Coordinate and schedule volunteer involvement in fundraising events, campaigns or refuge activities.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of volunteer activity, engagement and outcomes using internal systems.

• Promote a positive volunteer experience, including recognition, feedback opportunities and ongoing engagement to encourage retention.

• Ensure volunteering activity complies with safeguarding, health & safety, GDPR and relevant best practice guidance.

Community Fundraising Responsibilities

• Build strong connections with local communities, corporate partners, schools, faith groups, and clubs to inspire grassroots fundraising.

• Support individuals, corporates and community groups with their fundraising efforts, offering guidance, resources, and encouragement.

A safe place for women & children

Recruit, support and steward community fundraising volunteers and corporate volunteers to deliver local events and initiatives.

• Develop opportunities for supporters to transition into active volunteers and long-term advocates for the organisation

• Develop and implement creative fundraising ideas to boost participation and income.

• Represent the organisation at community events and networking opportunities to raise awareness and attract new supporters.

• Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities to ensure KPIs and income targets are achieved.

General Fundraising & Administration

• Maintain accurate records of donors, sponsors, and fundraising activities.

• Ensure compliance with fundraising regulations and uphold best practices.

Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote community fundraising events.

• Prepare reports on volunteer / supporter engagement and fundraising performance.

• Be the first point of contact for all volunteers and community/ corporate fundraising enquiries.

Strategic & Campaign Delivery

• Work closely with the Fundraising and Comms Team to plan and execute campaigns and events that drive income and enhance the organisation’s profile.

Support communications efforts including press releases, photo calls, and media interviews and newsletters to amplify fundraising activities.

Deliver presentations to a variety of audiences including corporate supporters, community groups, and clubs.

Organisational Development

• To build relationships and networks with appropriate agencies and to promote awareness of Domestic Abuse and WAL services in the wider community.

• To work in partnership with other agencies to promote awareness of Domestic Abuse and support to develop services across Luton

• To undertake any other duties as required and directed in accordance with the needs of the Organisation.

ASPECTS OF THE ROLE

Financial Resources:

The postholder will not have specific budgetary responsibilities; but they will be expected to support the Organisation in achieving their fiscal targets through the provision of timely information and returns.
