A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

 

I am a 75-year-old lady living in the Llandough area. I am a sociable person who enjoys conversation and companionship. As I am unable to walk, I spend much of my time using my iPad to play games, which helps me to relax. I also enjoy watching television, particularly Midsomer Murders, true crime documentaries, darts and pool when they are shown.

I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2006, and my mobility has gradually deteriorated over time. I have been unable to mobilise independently since 2012. My husband has provided full-time support until now. I require full assistance with personal care, including dressing and undressing, showering twice per week (morning calls) continence care, and all aspects of personal hygiene. I have a ceiling hoist in place, and Personal Assistants will need to be trained to use it safely and correctly.

PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of the role is to provide full personal care support, including showering, dressing and undressing, and continence care.

HOURS OF WORK

 

19 hours per week to be worked on a 2:1 basis, totalling 9.5 hours each PA per week. To cover morning and evening calls over 7 days.

 

RATES OF PAY

 

£15.30 per hour + Double time on bank holidays.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid 4 weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).
