Celebrating Shakespeare is at the heart of everything we do.

The Trust is looking for a Visitor Reception Assistant to work at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and Shakespeare’s Birthplace to support us over the 2026 season. Working 27 hours per week over 4 days including alternate weekends. The contract will run from May 2026 to Sunday 1 November 2026. The working day will be from 9.45am to 5.00pm and will include working weekdays, weekends and Bank Holidays.

As Visitor Reception Assistant you will be responsible for delivering excellent standards of visitor experience through a warm welcome and sharing of information to enhance visitors’ understanding of the offer. You will also contribute to the financial sustainability of the Trust by ensuring that opportunities are taken to maximise sales through an efficient and professional admission process leading to increased average admissions and secondary spends.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of working in a high profile, customer-facing operation, preferably a busy visitor attraction with a diverse audience. You will be used to delivering against a range of KPIs including financial and visitor satisfaction targets. A sound understanding of customer service principles, experience of using EPOS ticketing systems, and cash handling are also essential.

There is no closing date for applications. We will shortlist applications as they are received and close the recruitment campaign when the roles are filled.

We will send you a confirmation email once you have sent your online application, where you will be able to complete your profile in full.

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is committed to encouraging equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB) in our recruitment practices and in the working practices of our staff and volunteers.
