The beautiful Oval Room, dating back to the 18 Century, is used for practical performancebased lessons as well as providing a wonderful recital venue for numerous formal and informal concertsthroughout the year. There are three spacious and recently refurbished teaching/practice rooms and a furthertwo overflow practice rooms used regularly by a team of 11 visiting instrumental teachers. The MusicDepartment also makes use of our professional box theatre for rehearsals, productions and Live Lounge events.Music is at the heart of St Gabriel's and there are 4 choirs and 2 orchestras across the Junior and Senior Schools. thThere are also numerous extra-curricular clubs and activities, including jazz bands, chamber ensembles, musicproduction clubs and rock and pop band coaching, taking place before, during and after the school day. About The Department: MusicContract Type: Term time only, starting at 2.5 hours perweek with room for expansionStart Date: Summer TermSalary: £37.76 per hour, plus holiday payBenefits: In addition to a competitive salary, staffenjoy a range of benefits (see page 7).Reporting to: The PrincipalLocation: St Gabriel’s School, Newbury, RG20 9BDPosition: Visiting Music Teacher - BrassTHE POSTAs Visiting Music Teacher, you will be required to deliver inspiring one-to-one lessons across a range of brassinstruments (currently mostly trumpet and cornet, although all specialisms are welcomed); ensuring studentmotivation and progression, showing evidence of raising student attainment and achievement, anddemonstrating excellent instrumental and musical pedagogy. Throughout the year there will also be exciting opportunities to support your pupils in formal and informalconcerts, orchestral and jazz band projects and bespoke ensembles for school productions and events asappropriate. It is expected that the successful candidate will be keen to invest fully in the musical life of theschool.
