Vicar: St Chad, and St Mary and St Edmund, Rochdale and St Luke Deeplish and St Peter Newbold

We are seeking a prayerful, mission-minded priest to lead churches serving diverse communities in and around Rochdale town centre.

Vicar of St Chad, and St Mary and St Edmund, Rochdale and of St Luke’s Deeplish and St Peter’s Newbold (to be held in plurality) and Mission Community Leader.

We are seeking a prayerful, mission-minded priest to lead three distinctive churches (St Peter’s PCC took the courageous decision to begin consultations on closure) serving diverse communities in and around Rochdale town centre.

This is an exciting opportunity to build on faithful ministry and help shape the future of the Church in a place rich in heritage and community spirit. We are looking for someone who is deeply rooted in prayer and Scripture, open to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and passionate about helping people of all ages encounter and follow Jesus Christ.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is comfortable leading worship in a range of traditions
  • Is fully committed to a strong Safeguarding culture
  • Is passionate about making disciples and helping churches grow spiritually and numerically.
  • Can build and encourage teams of lay and ordained leaders.
  • Has a heart for pastoral care and developing the gifts of others.
  • Will engage confidently with schools, families and the wider community.
  • Sees the missional opportunities in baptisms, weddings and funerals.
  • Is approachable, visible and committed to serving in a diverse urban context.

We are praying for someone who will help us deepen discipleship, strengthen our witness, and share the love of Christ across our parishes.

Serving at the heart of Rochdale, this post offers a fabulous opportunity to minister in diverse communities, work alongside committed leaders and ordained, and play a key role in the continuing renewal and growth of the Church in the town centre.

If you are a collaborative leader with a heart for mission and a passion for sharing the love of Christ, we would love to hear from you.

Please see the Role Description, Person Specification and Parish Profiles for full details.
