Candidate Information US Philanthropy Officer Tusk Trust February 2026 Overview Tusk is seeking a dynamic and motivated US Philanthropy Officer to play a pivotal role in expanding our impact across the United States. Working closely with Tusk’s US Development Executive, this position supports a broad range of fundraising initiatives, from major gifts and annual giving to corporate partnerships, foundation grants and especially events. This is an exciting opportunity to help advance Tusk’s mission by strengthening donor relationships, driving fundraising pipelines, and enhancing our US development efforts. The US Philanthropy Officer will help identify and research prospects, support cultivation and solicitation strategies, and ensure thoughtful, timely stewardship for all supporters. The role will manage donor records and reporting through Salesforce, prepare acknowledgment letters, assist with events, and coordinate donor communications. The successful candidate will come to the position with a proven track record in fundraising and strong administrative and organisational skills. This is a full-time role with the possibility of some working from home following your successful probation. The role will be based in the UK and will require some travel within the UK and occasionally to the US. About Tusk Tusk’s mission is to accelerate the impact of African-driven conservation. Further details may be found on the Tusk website DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Fundraising Operations & Administration • • • • Oversee administrative processes and maintain accurate records for US development activities, including major gifts, annual giving, sponsorships, grants, planned giving, and donor communications. Serve as the primary point of contact for US development data and systems, including gift processing, event tracking, proposals, and reporting. Play a leading role in the organisation of US fundraising events as required. Coordinate calendars, meetings, and schedules for US development activities and senior staff. Donor & Stakeholder Engagement • • • • Support the US Development Executive in managing key donor and partner relationships through meeting preparation, proposal materials, and follow-up. Manage timely and personalised donor acknowledgments and ongoing stewardship for gifts and pledges. Represent Tusk’s mission and US strategy in external interactions with donors, partners, and vendors. Support Tusk’s CEO and Founder & President with their US donor relations, as well as other areas of fundraising as required. Data, Reporting & Research • • • Use Salesforce reporting tools to support prospecting, campaign tracking, fundraising metrics, and strategy development. Assist with annual forecasting and year-to-date budget analysis. Conduct research and prepare materials for donor meetings, proposals, and development opportunities. General • • • The nature of the charity demands that this role be flexible to assist generally with all aspects of the work carried out at Tusk and is not limited to the duties listed above Uphold the reputation and integrity of the charity Ensure that correct health and safety standards are observed when carrying out the above duties, applying risk assessments when appropriate, and acting accordingly • Work within the approved financial authorities EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS • • • • • • • • • • 5 or more years of experience in a professional environment required, preferably in a development or executive office. Development, donor relations, and/or prospect management experience preferred. Experience interfacing with donors in a professional environment preferred. Strong skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Zoom and/or Teams. Experience with advancement databases and reporting tools preferred. travel Experience with appointment setting, event planning, and arrangements preferred Excellent organisational skills Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as well as interpersonal skills Ability to handle budget processes Bachelor’s degree preferred Terms & Conditions Accountability: The US Philanthropy Officer reports directly to both the US Development Executive & Chief Operating Officer Location: Tusk Office, Tisbury, Wiltshire, UK (with the possibility of some working from home). Working Hours: Candidates must be able to work five days a week (Mon-Fri). Tusk’s working day is 8 hours long with 1 hour for lunch. Core working hours are 10:00 to 15:30 GMT with occasional variance to US time zones as needed. The other 2.5 hours will be allocated between the start and end of the day. Occasional travel within the UK will be required (mostly to London), and willingness to participate in occasional Charity events at weekends and in evenings is essential. Remuneration: Annual salary in the region of £30,000 according to experience.
