ACS International School Hillingdon is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced English Teacher to join our vibrant learning community from August 2026. The successful candidate will teach Middle School students in Grades 5–8 (ages 10–14) and inspire a lifelong love of language, literature, and learning.

The Role
As an English Teacher, you will create an engaging and inclusive learning environment that enables students to develop strong literacy skills, critical thinking, creativity, and confidence in communication. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality learning experiences that challenge and support every student to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire, motivate, and challenge students through high-quality teaching and learning
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Monitor, assess, and promote student progress through effective feedback and assessment practices
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a thorough understanding of the curriculum
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share high-quality teaching resources
  • Foster intellectual curiosity and a genuine love of learning
  • Support students with additional learning needs in partnership with specialist support staff
  • Contribute to the school’s pastoral care programme, supporting student wellbeing and development
  • Participate fully in professional development opportunities
  • Support and contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities and community events
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support the effective operation of the school.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree and recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, teaching licence/certification, or equivalent)
  • Proven experience teaching English to students aged 10–14
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning
  • Strong IT skills, ideally including experience with Apple technology
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professional and personal conduct

Desirable

  • Experience teaching within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)
  • Previous experience in an international school setting
  • Experience working with diverse and multicultural student communities.
