Trustees
Help shape the future of Citizens Advice Westminster through strategic leadership, sound governance and positive change.
Are you looking for an opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a real difference in our community?
We are seeking a new Trustee to join the Board of Citizens Advice Westminster. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape our strategic direction, support our long-term sustainability and strengthen our work at the heart of Westminster’s communities.
As a Trustee, you will help ensure that Citizens Advice Westminster continues to provide free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to people who need it most. Working alongside fellow Trustees and the executive team, you will help guide the organisation through future opportunities and challenges while ensuring strong governance and responsible stewardship of resources.
What we are looking for
We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Strategic planning and organisational development
- Change management and organisational transformation
- Financial governance, risk management, audit or financial oversight
This experience may have been gained in the public, private or voluntary sector. Accountancy qualification or equivalent relevant experience desirable.
We are looking for someone who can:
- contribute to the development of our long-term strategy;
- support effective governance and organisational sustainability;
- provide constructive challenge and independent judgement;
- help oversee organisational performance and risk management;
- contribute to informed decision-making at Board level;
- work collaboratively with fellow Trustees and senior leaders.
We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about supporting local communities and who share the values and aims of the Citizens Advice service.
Future leadership opportunities
As part of our longer-term succession planning, we are particularly interested in candidates with strong financial governance experience. While this is a general Trustee appointment, the successful candidate may, in time, be well placed to support future Board leadership roles, including the role of Treasurer, should opportunities arise.
What you will contribute
- Strategic leadership and oversight of Citizens Advice Westminster.
- Commitment to our values and charitable purpose.
- Independent judgement, professional expertise and constructive challenge.
- Attendance at Board meetings and participation in committees or working groups where appropriate.
- Support for the organisation’s continued development, sustainability and impact within Westminster.
What’s in it for you?
This is an opportunity to:
- make a positive impact on the lives of local residents;
- contribute to a trusted charity making a difference in Westminster;
- develop your governance, leadership and strategic decision-making skills;
- build relationships with fellow Trustees, staff, volunteers and community partners;
- gain valuable experience that supports your personal and professional development.
This is a voluntary role. Reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out Trustee duties will be reimbursed.
Valuing inclusion
We are committed to building a Board that reflects the diverse communities we serve.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and particularly encourage applications from groups currently under-represented in charity governance, including people from ethnic minority communities, disabled people, younger people and Westminster residents.
