Trustee Vacancy- archaeology experience
Arnos Vale Cemetery Trust is seeking a new Trustee with archaeological expertise to join its Board at an exciting time of growth and strategic renewal. A historic 45-acre Victorian cemetery in Bristol, Arnos Vale is both a working burial ground and a vibrant community space focused on heritage, wellbeing, nature and events. The charity is looking for a passionate and strategic individual to bring archaeological and historic environment expertise to the Board, support responsible conservation and interpretation, and help ensure the site’s heritage is protected for future generations.
What are we looking for?
Your experience will ideally have been gained in archaeology or a related heritage field. An understanding of, or willingness to learn about, 19th-century industrial archaeology, urban built landscapes, funerary architecture and archaeology, and Victorian funeral culture and ephemera would be advantageous.
Good networks within the Bristol area, heritage sector or archaeological community would be beneficial. You will understand how archaeological insight can support conservation, interpretation, community engagement and responsible stewardship, and be comfortable working at Board level, contributing to discussion and enhancing decision-making.
Ability to work at a strategic level is essential.
We are looking for someone passionate about the work we do, who is happy to advocate for and represent the charity to key stakeholders to help further our work and impact.
