We are looking to recruit new Trustees
who are enthused by the mission of Edberts House aligned to our values, and motivated by the prospect of continuing to innovate to drive meaningful improvements in community wellbeing across the Borough of Gateshead.

Edberts House is a registered charity named after our first community house, situated in the
Borough of Gateshead. Our story began 15 years ago with a small group of local people in
East Gateshead wanting to see positive change on their estate. Since then, we have expanded
our activities into four distinct community hubs across Gateshead delivering support and
activities driven by the needs of local residents. Through our Community Linking Project, we
also provide social prescribing support in three Primary Care Networks of Gateshead, covering
18 GP surgeries, alongside specialist link workers within secondary care and our specialist
children, young people and families team.
We are also hosting Compassionate Gateshead https://www.compassionategateshead.org/
which aims to bring together services, communities and individuals to improve people’s
experience of death, caring and grief in Gateshead.
We are looking to recruit new trustees who are enthusiastic about the mission of the organisation,
aligned to our values, and motivated by the opportunity to continue innovating to achieve
meaningful improvements in community wellbeing across the Borough of Gateshead. We are
particularly interested in recruiting trustees with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
Financial management
HR management
Business development and change management experience
Health and social care structures and systems
Trustees are appointed by the Board of Trustees for a period of three years.
Terms may be renewed, subject to the approval of the Board.
About Edberts
Edberts House is keen to maintain and develop the diversity amongst Board Members, particularly
strengthening representation of under-represented characteristics and we therefore welcome
and encourage applicants from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

We are excited about the difference that connecting
people with one another is making in our communities.
Connections by building friendships, good support
networks and linking communities with those who
make decisions, creating new, better informed ways of
delivering services.
We are great admirers of the work of Sir Michael Marmot,
and much of our work is built on his research and
evidence. We want to build happier, healthier, friendlier
communities, as – in Marmot’s words – “Why treat
people and send them back to the conditions that made
them sick?”

You are asked to apply by letter telling us about your background, what excites you about us and
what you feel that you would bring to the role of trustee of Edberts House. If you are applying
for a role with particular expertise required (e.g., finance) please indicate what qualifies you for
that role.
You do not have to submit a CV, but you can if you wish.
If you would like a conversation with the Chair or CEO before you apply, please contact us at the
email address: info@edbertshouse.org.
Once applications have been received, they will be considered to assess which candidates best
meet our current needs, help balance the board’s membership and bring valuable diversity.
We will then contact you to let you know if we would like to take the process to interview stage.
Please apply via the email address: info@edbertshouse.org marking your email with the title
“Trustee application"
